On the weekend of 14th, 15th and 16th October 2011 the Isle of Mull will once again be hosting the Mull Rally a road rally held on closed public island roads.

This is the 42nd year of the rally and the really good news is it will be running past one of my fields on about 4 occasions, see

http://mullrally.com/test/wp-content/up ... th_map.pdf

I am happy for forum members to come and camp in the field for the weekend to get a grandstand view. Unfortunatly the only home comfort I can offer is access to a water tap.

You will need to make arrangements for ferry travel

Anyone interested PM me for more details.

Me & the boys would LOVE to see it but its just too far away :(
Just loving that MK2, proper cars.

Hope weekend went well. Sounds like a good one.

I agree, Jay. That's why I have one. ;)

Although mine is 100% original. No cutting bulkhead to fit in Pinto engine or any of that for my baby. :)

These were taken the day I brought it home, so inside hadn't been cleaned, as you can see.

40k genuine miles on the clock. Those are the original tyres from 1980 in that photo! Had to take them off because they were badly weathered.

That's a lovely example Tadhgocuilleain.

My neighbour just cut up a similar concours condition MkII to make another rally car, they are hens teeth now and worth a small fortune in rally prepped state. Have a look on Ebay

The engine of choice for the escorts seems to be a 2 litre Vauxhall Vectra engine with throttle bodies

Yeah, they are rare. Especially the two door version. It's even more rare to find an Irish one left in original condition. Mine was owned by an old couple from new. Only their two names on the tax book before mine.

That's the "Red Top" engine is it? I know the "pinto" engine was the one of choice before, but I think they are getting rare aswell now.
