Called LV today to change my insurance from my 06 Navara Aventura auto to my new Navara Platinum auto.
It went something like this but this is just the short version
idiot on phone: Sorry sir we are unable to offer insurance on a vehicle of that size and performance??????????????

Me: But this is the same vehicle that is on my current policy, just a new one.

IoP: Sorry sir it is a different model.

Now I know strictly speaking it is 190bhp and the 06 is 169 but surely that cant be why they wont insure it.

Went on LV web site Navara Tekna 2012 auto, Platinum not listed but if I am not mistaken the same vehicle as the Platinum but not so many toys, same power. £352.00 Great! back on the phone.

New idiot: sorry sir its a different model we cant offer insurance on that vehicle because of the size and power.

Me: but it is the same vehicle apart from a couple of toys

Ni: sorry sir its a different model.

You get the picture. Has anybody else tried to insure a 2012 Navara special edition 190 4WD Platinum Auto

Common sense seems to be disappearing from this world at an alarming rate or am I turning into Victor Meldrew.

Still searching but word must have got around coz nobody is answering the phone. Think I will go for some therapy and try again tomorrow. :spiderman: :censored: :?

LV wouldn't insure me for some ridiculous reason either - so they didn't get my business.

With Adrian Flux at the moment, but meaning to change. They were the cheapest for my DTE'd Ranger, but are ridiculously expensive for my standard Tekna Connect - I questioned why and was told (other than the value and type of vehicle) that it was because they specialised in modded vehicles and as mine wasn't modded, they wouldn't be as competetive as others?????????????

I own a 2006 Nav, and wanted to check out some companies for insurance this year as I needed to include business use. Cant say they will be any different than what you have been told so far on your Platinum but the ones I tried were:

Sureterm 798.65
Lifesure 520
Quoteline direct 522
Adrian Flux 650
NFU Mutual 879.98

Dont forget this included business use.

NFU give good discount if you have a lot of business with them.

We get very good discount from NFU but we have around 30 vehicles insured, 4 houses, business premises and liability for 2 businesses.
I`ve been given full NCB on new vehicles I have insured.
Oh and they are all insured individually not under a fleet policy.

I've insured my Nav through DirectLine - £340 a year; 20k miles p.a. and for business use...... Some of the numbers above are mad.... !!

Just moved to NFU. Swinton tried to convince me that a renewal quote of £880 with £300 cashback was the best I was going to find. That didn't include breakdown or legal cover, and was only third party, fire and theft cover.

NFU quoted £480 including all legal fees, national RAC cover and it's fully comp. They also gave me 8 years NCB even though I only have 4!

Try not to get wound up by a call centre opearative who simply takes calls and reads a screen. Particularly at busy times the calls will be routed to non-specialist call centres.

You will get 3 different answers on 3 consequtive days.

Went through all this garbage when I saw the light and changed from a Defender to a 170hp Nav. Ended up with Direct Line who were fine with it and no problems when I changed to the V6 earlier this year. Worth a try anyway, UK call centres as well if you don't want to go online.
