It makes sense and as far as I'm aware should be OK.

This is a good read, http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/plates.htm

Give your local Police headquarters a ring and as for the 'Road Policing Unit', they should be able top give you a definite answer.

You can mount it on the roof. It will make you more likely to get pulled over though.
I think you could be right but I doubt if there have been any prosecutions.

I would imagine the reason drivers of 'modified' vehicles are stopped more often is the chance that the law is being broken under 'Construction and Use Regulations such as dangerous parts and equipment. ( winches, bullbars, wide wheels etc.)

Had this problem on my rally car and off-roader with the front plate getting smashed off.
Bought a sticky reflective plate and didgets from a car/trailer accessory shop, stuck the plate on the bonnet and never been pulled about it and that includes for the MOT.
As long as it's 'readable' I can't see mounting it higher being a 'nick' as you see plenty of Landy's, Disco's and RR having them mounted high.
Just my 2p

if the truck is post 2001 it has to be the correct type of plate mounted within 100mm of the front (I think) on a vertical surface.
Anything pre-this is not subject to regs

Those stick on plates are rare as rocking horse **** these days. As are the metal blanks, unless you buy a show plate you have to get the silly fragile acrylic things these days. I much prefer the metal ones for use on trailers. All allegedly to reduce cloning. :dunno

Can you post a link please I can not find them. I looked for ages a few years back and was given the impression they where no longer available.
