Evening everyone, I have some questions that I am hoping someone will guid me to an answer :D

:I think the left hand side mirror was replaced at some point but unfortunately was not fitted properly. I can hear wind whistling through when driving along and when I gave it a quick wash yesterday, water came into the cab. Anyone had this problem before? Just a case of prising the mirror off and realigning the rubber seal?

: Rear left window does not work, motor?

: When you plug a trailer in and reverse will the parking sensor go off? Or does it detect the trailer being plugged in? If not ill have to bypass the sensor with a switch so I can turn it off when using a trailer "which is a lot"

: front right hand side headlight has condensation, is that just a question of heating it up so it re-seals?

:Interior lights do not turn on when opening the doors, I haven't checked the fuses yet but I'm guessing it might be that.

I have never driven a d40 before so I'm not sure if this is normal but the clutch seems to bite fairly high up.

Sorry for all the questions, just want to iron out these little niggles.

Cheers
Alex

Clutch's do tend to have a high biting point, not so much on the newer 190 models.

Parking sensors if fitted correctly with towbar wiring should cut out when you plug the trailer electrics in, as does the rear fog light.

Hopefully someone else can answer the other questions :cheers2:

Alex,
Too many questions in one post. But, I'll have a go

1 take the mirror off and all will become clear. It will be held on with screws from inside the door. If there is no rubber gasket present, just use silicon sealant unless you want to increase Mr Nissans bank ratings.

2 strip the inner door card off and gain access to the wiring and motor use a multimeter to see if you are getting power to the switch and motor.

3 it is unlikely that the trailer wiring will cancel the reversing warning. It all depends on how it was originally wired up. Either live with it or put a kill switch in as you suggest.

4 The headlamp will not reseal itself, remove it, re-silicon the joint and use heat and use silica gel/crystals to soak up the moisture that is there now.

5 as I previously posted already, generally there are small switches on the door frames that earth when the door is opened. If their contacts are dirty they will not work. Take them out and clean the contacts with a wee bit of wet and dry abrasive paper.

6 the clutch pedal on the D40 does ride high, although on other vehicles this means the clutch is wearing out, this is not necessarily the case with the D40.

Good luck,

Yea sorry for all the questions in one post, just didn't want to clog up the forum with loads of posts. Thanks for all the good info I will give it all a crack this week. I looked at all the fuses earlier and all seems fine. There are 3 fuse boxes? One behind the glove box, one near the battery and one near the air filter correct?

Thanks guys

no their 4
will let you try and find number 4   before i tell you

Just found the problem with the interior light, it's not a fuse or the switches on the doors. The light it's self is dodgy when I flick the little button thing to the middle so the light will turn on when the truck is unlocked/opened, I have to fiddle with it so its in a certain place.

Took the mirror off yesterday and siliconed it but that didn't work, still whistles when driving and leaks :(

Its probably water getting in through your roof bar bolts that runs down the windscreen crossmember and into the light and sun glasses holder
