Some fit gaskets both sides, some don't, mine only has the one gasket, as of yet, no issues

Sorry more questions - when I've dropped the alternator out of the way and undone the two bolts , do the two faces where the new blanking plate will fit in between pull far enough apart to clean, install gasket/s etc. or will I have dismantle further to get good access.

Thank **** that's done - fought me all the way. Icing on the cake was when I realised the blanking plate I purchased from EBay was wrong ( holes didn't line up )not much fun trying to elongate holes in stainless steel. 3 hours !! My freewheeling hubs arrive this week- did someone say should take 20 minutes each side ???

took me 20 minutes each side. I printed the tutorial off here, and had me sockets as paper weights as I done the job.
hardest job was double nutting the studs to get them out.
good luck, ive noticed a big increase of fuel saving so far.
usually ive done 200 miles on half a tank, but done 225 so far, and not even on half yet.

i did mine last week and I'm no mechanic so the first side took an hour just because i was unsure and keep checking stuff to make sure it was right and did ring a mate regarding the wheel bearing play and how to adjust.
the other side was a piece of **** and yes 20 mins to fit a free hub is about right

have u noticed the fuel diff yet mr fish?

not yet but have a read up on my review i posted earlyier

Always wanted to do this guys, so apologies but :

:eek:fftopic

Need to move the last few posts to Mr Fish's hub thread :)

Should have put the plate on the other end, much easier.

This is intended for anyone who doubts the benefits of blanking off the EGR system on the long term life of an engine!
NOT to mention the extra mileage achieved from every gallon of squirt!
Today I was going through the usual checks and took the attached photo of my dipstick (yes I know it's sad).
The oil in my truck is semi synthetic 10/40 Texaco Extra, it has covered 3,904 miles.
Notice how clean and golden the oil still is, no sign of the sooty muck that scours out bearings and blocks up filters and oilways starving the bearings of oil.
There is no bull s**t, trickery or lies involved in this photo, it is 100% genuine!
I am in no doubts about the benefits.

hey chris, before you changed the oil, did you flush with diesel or a after market cleaner

I always put about 1/2 litre or 1 pint of diesel into a hot engine (petrol or diesel), run it statically at high idle the D22's hot switch is perfect for this, for approx 8 - 10 mins then drop it.
When I started off in the motor trade (45 years ago) we used to do this with parafin!
Modern cleaners are very good, if I am 'doing' a neglected engine for the first time, I will always add some Forte engine flush, but it is pretty expensive and not really needed for every oil change as long as they are done on time.
Just MHO.
