Engine / Injector rattle update !

Just thought i would update you all on my trucks 2000 rpm Engine Rattle !
After putting Another set of injectors in they seemed to have got rid of the rattle ,Its now much better but trying to get a full set out of Nissan was one hell of a task :roll:
I had to argue tooth and nail that just two injectors had not made any difference if at all and how could they be sure that they had exchanged the right pair :?:
I had to threaten to leave the truck there until four had been fitted and no more rattle could be heard !
So the Agent said the only way they could fit a full set was to fit a full set from another truck in the compound,then claim for another new set for that :roll: Its not the agents fault ...its fcuking Nissan cutting corners etc.... the agents want to fit a full set but Nissan is curbing the spending on warranty claims !
But anyhow after all the fcuking about .... i have four new injectors witch has seemed to have cured it !
Another thing worth mentioning ...is on the Nissan bulleting board they advise not to use supper market fuel and recommend using shell or BP !? :!:

with Nissan losing 2.9 Billion dollars this year, no wonder they are cutting costs

Glad you got in sorte Garry!!

But how is that saving them money doing half a job??!?!? as you trucks been in twice now for the same job!! surely it would have been more cost effective to do all the injectors at once.... one labour charged... one hire car etc.....

Glad you got it sorted Garry, seems this is quite a common issue with the injectors, so it would be interesting to see how others get treated. Anyway glad you're sorted :wink:

my injector rattle started around 8,000 miles - be interesting to see if it comes back with yours after some miles garry

Noticed my engine had started to rattle a bit more than i had got used to and thought it was getting close toservice time, but still have 7000to go. Then saw the above and stopped using supper market fuel, rattle now gone!!

Hopefully no long term damage done, but still got 18 months warranty left!

Apparently with the supermarket fuel theres less lube so after prolonged use you get a build up in carbon deposits on the injectors ! :scratch:

Can anything be done to the injectors to stop the rattle or is it a case of replacing them.

Just wondering if they can be serviced as i have started to get a rattle at about 1900-2000 rpm.

I thought it may have been tappets to begin with but it only starts to rattle when the engine it under load.

It's a 55 reg with 41k on the clock.

Oh so out of warranty then !
I dont think them rattling does any harm Daz ! So i wouldnt worry to much mate .... the only reason i had mine done was becuase my truck is less than a year old hasnt done 10k yet so it shouldnt be making the noise !
But if i had one out of warranty making the noise i wouldnt be running of buying injectors at £400 each :shock:

TBH Daz i have been told since that as soon as i have done a few miles the rattle might come back :roll:
I know that they dont all do it as i havent noticed it on any of the other d40s i have owned :scratch:
The nissan agent told me its commen on d40s and pathys to sometimes rattle !
