Hey folks.
2008 UK spec D40 Aventura 6 speed manual.
For the majority of my ownership the Nav has sometimes hesitated when accelerating from low revs. Nothing too dramatic, just a bit of a splutter, a big cloud of smoke and away it goes.
Over the last week or so though the problem seems to have worsened with the jeep sometimes losing all power after the initial splutter and the only thing I can do to solve it is turn the ignition off & back on again which clears the problem for a while.
Now I've checked the stored codes while doing a reset and (if I'm reading it correctly) the only one stored is 0093.
I get ten slow flashes, a pause, ten quick flashes, a pause, nine quick flashes, a pause, three quick flashes, then the sequence repeats.
From what I can tell this is a major fuel system leak detected.
Would I be correct in assuming that if there is no obvious sign of a leak that the QCV or SCV may be the culprit as it is over pressurising the rail which the system reads as a leak when the fuel pressure regulator valve opens?
I had a hilarious experience in my local Nissan dealer earlier today, before I went investigating the possible cause of the problem myself. I went in to price the 3 gearbox switches and the rear seal & cover to eliminate that particular problem & I just happened to ask the store man for a price on a suction control valve.
Why or where I got the idea that the SCV might be the problem I can't honestly say, I assume I was browsing here not so long ago and happened across a thread where my symptoms were discussed and the name stuck with me.
Anyway as soon as I mention the valve a suit comes galloping out of the office to say that the SCV isn't available on its own and I would need to buy the complete rail for ÂŁ400 and then have the system resynchronised at an extra cost.
Had I known then what I've discovered over the last couple of hours I could've had a lot of fun with him but I was completely in the dark and his guff seem plausible, albeit totally useless.
As I said I wasn't even sure what an SCV was at the time so I politely listened to his speech, already with absolutely no intention of following his advice, and went back to talking to the store man about the availability of LSD oil. To which the suit asked was my Nav auto or manual?
Six speed manual I said, to which his reply is that no manual Navs have an LSD, they were only fitted to autos.
At that stage I told the store man to ring me in the morning & said goodbye.
Any advice on my particular problem would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I've seen members warn about buying parts for the Nav on ebay. Are there ANY reliable traders I might deal with for the likes of the SCV (if needed) but also the gearbox switches and seal(s), as my local main dealer is looking for the equivalent of £350 for them (€410)
Thanks,
-Damien-
