Hi sorry for the simple question I have searched around but can not find a photo or guide for the euro 4, just want to check I am doing it right.

Is this the pipe where the blanking plate goes?

Actually as long as you blank it somewhere it doesn't matter. Most who fit one blank (there is a debate about fitting 2) fit it where the egr pipe joins the engine next to the power steering reservoir. I am not sure I recognise the photo, not quite the same as my euro 4.

Difficult to tell from that photo as its a bit close of a close up but looks very similar to mine. Basically it's the pipe that links the inlet manifold to the exhaust manifold that runs across the front of the engine behind the fan cowling. The photo looks like the left hand flange standing at the front of the truck which is where I blanked mine, the right hand side is an odd shaped four studded flange which you could also blank as well but I've not bothered. As said above it doesn't matter which side you blank off as long as it stops diesel soot and other undesirables entering the inlet manifold!

Sounds like the same place so I will get a wider photo later today but thank you for the help :-D

Yep that's the same as mine, nice easy job takes about 10 - 15 mins, undo the two 10 mm bolts holding the plastic engine cover on, lift off from the rear, makes access a lot easier, undo the two 12 or 13mm bolts on the left hand flange and slide blanking plate in we're the thin metal gasket is, bolt up, refit engine cover and job done!!

Brill thanks, all done :-D power seams different now, less of a jump from slow to fast more gradual now. Is this normal?

Thanks

  :faint :faint
dont ask me i have the D22 :eekout

From what I can see from the photos I'd say you've done the EGR blanking correctly and on the 'hot' side of the EGR :thumbleft:

Yer that's normal, less turbo lag is how I would describe it, more responsive, but for me it was about preventing all that ***** going back into the engine, can't be good for valve seats and the like? ;)

Thought yours was the 190bhp version? if mine is euro 4 its onlu 171 right?

Alex

I believe the 190 was introduced around September 2010 on a Euro 4, I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will be able to offer a more accurate date before the full blown Euro 5 was introduced?

I had a situation recently when I had one Nissan dealer telling me I had a Euro 5 and I had missed my service interval and could possibly of compromised my warranty, then another dealer said I had a Euro 4?

I contacted Nissan UK who also said it was a Euro 5, turned out to be a bit of both but essentially a Euro 4 190 !!

Bit concerning initially but turned out to be the best variant I believe :bounce:

I have had an EGR fault which has reset but I really don't want to have to change it due to the price.
I have ordered a blanking plate off eBay which looks like a perfect circle with two lugs on it.

I know you can blank off either end but what I want to know is which end should I block off to make sure no exhaust goes into the valve and not just blocking it from going back into the engine?

I'm going to try and remove the valve, clean it all up, replace it and block it off an hope I never see the fault light again!

Cheers
Mark.

Read the threads buddy to get a full explanation.
But basically, stood at the front of the Nav, left hand side of pipe/egr valve end is the easiest way.
Put the blank between the cooler pipe and the egr valve using a gasket both sides of bye blanking plate.

I have read about 20 threads on it and have seen the how to guide with the photos etc so know where to fit the round blank but people talk about the hot end and cold end and blanking both ends of the pipe but I can't seem to figure out if there is a way of stopping the exhaust gases going into the valve rather than just into the engine. Cheers. Mark
