I'll be reporting my 2nd week findings later this week, if I am two weeks in a row getting nearly 10mpg improvement I would say yes you shuld see it pay back for itself...Depending on your amount of miles, rather quickly...In order to complete my experience I do want to do another two week run as standard as well as the car has now several thousand more miles on it than I started experimenting and I think there is a correction factor for a Diesel not favouring a new engine...

One thing I love is the stability and reliability, I feel very confident putting my foot down and have the power available when I need it...

This is very interesting. When I removed my box as I was having problems with it and sent it back but still found the truck to be that same sort of performance with out the box fitted and I was still having problems with it going into limp mode. I sent the car back to Nissan who could find no problem’s but did a reset and we were back to normal performance from the day I picked it up, plus fuel consumption was back to 24 25 mpg

Since then I have refitted the replacement box In the first instance it felt better and fuel consumption was also better The other day I had a straight balls out run against a outlaw at Silverstone :thumbright: He could keep up with me in a Red line situation. In a 60 mph 5th gear I just pulled ahead. But not what you would think with a so called extra 25 to 30hp Fuel consumption is still good with a average of 29mpg (I have a very heavy right foot) :?

My mate with the outlaw is having his remap and will be interesting to see what happens

Just to clarify this is a Box off E Bays not abyss I am looking dejongj reports with interest

Thanks VERY much indeed for this info mate. :clappy:
In 7 weeks time, my new 5th wheel will be here from the States and the guys that import it (Calder leisure) will be fitting a chip + air suspension to the Nav I haven't managed to buy yet!!! , not in my case for more speed, simply for more guts for towing such a large rig.
They've just started using the DTE chip because apparantly, the "Tune-it" chips that they were using were causing all sorts of limp mode problems.
Any further info re fuel consumption would also be appreciated. Mind you, at a reported 17 MPG with the rig on the back, I 'll be WELL happy after nearly 10 years of 12MPG max from my Winnebago!

Alec from Calder Leisure has been using one of our systems for a few months now, tbh weve had no issues whatsoever with Engine management lights, or limp home mode..

As some of you know, im running a 2 box combo (just an idea were working on) and even with this combo and taking the truck upto nearly 5,000 revs in every gear (on a regular occasion) im yet to see any signs of limp home mode.

IMO opinion, this is the way to go :)

Oh, and dont forget guys i have the group buy running for members too..

Thanks for the info buddy. Much appreciated and very reassuring. Having read various posts on here regarding chips sending Navs into limp mode, I must admit that it was an area of concern for me, especially given how hard the Nav is going to have to work in my case.
Can ask what you mean by the "group buy" please? Is it a Forum members discount and if so, given that I'll be asking Alec to fit the chip to my Nav (when I eventually find one!!! ) what sort of price should I be looking at for the unit?
Thanks

EDIT = Oooops, scratch th last bit. I've just looked back though the thread and found the link. Cheers

The group buy is only available to forum members, and is for a limited time only.

To be honest, Alec (as one of our dealers) pays vitrually the same price as the foum offer :)

Fitting is a simple 10 minute job, so if youre looking to save yourself a few quid then buy direct from ourselves, fit it yourself and save ÂŁ140.00 :)

JP, have i ever mentioned the other 3 files that are on the box for you to try?

ll catch up with you 2moro evening ;)
LOL no...I'm curious now  I'll give you a call tomorrow evening...

Hi Andrew and JP,

I have one of these chips underway, can't wait.......
Do I understand correctly that the chip has not only variable settings, but separate maps as well?

Serge.
PS: I think that I grasp the concept of running a dual chip setup, and I'm going to experiment with this as soon as I receive this chip, as I already run a CR-plugin chip (Racechip Pro), along with a 3" straight through exhaust and K&N Apollo II intake kit.

Wheehee! That sounds quite a setup you've got!

You wouldn't have a soundclip of that exhaust would you? I'm about to change the map on mine and see what that is like...

Once the unit arrives, please remove the CR system completely...

I would then try the default map (map1) on power zero, then turn the system to plus 1(10%) then road test...

Try all 4 maps like this, once youve settled on which map u prefer then re-add the cr module on the lowest setting available..

Hi Serge. Welcome to the site.

Do you have any photos of the k&n set up and the exhaust?
Hi Daz,

here you go (Warning: Gratuitous pic of dirty engine bay, Cusco catch can next to the filter housing):

The downpipe section opens up gradually from the 54mm turbo outlet to 3" at the flex joint. Straight through muffler, all mandrel bends.
My 08 Caribbean AT model came without DPF or cat, making the exhaust job a simple, straightforward operation. (We have no diesel emissions regulations..)

My wheels, XD Series by KMC Wheels:

with Falken 265/60R18 Ziex S/TZ 01.
I just installed a Carryboy Sportlid as well, the single biggest fuel saving mod, IMO (10-12% at 65mph cruise).

Serge.
PS: Moderators, please feel free to move this post, if I have overstepped the scope of this thread.

I bet that sounds wicked! Interesting exhaust! But what is that can for in the engine bay?

Now, I have a confession to make. I think I've made a right hash of the fuel consumption measurements to those that are interested in it...

Right, check it out...
My last report was 32.86mpg at odo-meter 4238. Since then I had a fill up at 4486 for 64.63l which made it an average of 17.44mpg!!!??? Now I just filled it up again as I just went on a test drive with a different map...Odo-meter 4778 filled it up with 60.03l which makes the last run 22.11mpg!!?? I'm getting really confused here...I guess I am doing something wrong...

The google doc of my fillup logs can be found here if that works...

Abyss, do you have any other auto Navara's running with this? What do they get? You have a manual don't you?

Now onto the good stuff, Map 4 is very interesting. Quite a noticeable difference to the behaviour, feel a bit more petrol like...And even less turbo lag...The range between 1500-3000rpm seems to be increased in power considerably and quite even in its distribution...It's almost like I can't wait to pull something along....Very interesting...I'll use this for a few days and then I'll switch to another map....

That’s interesting Good one for towing my Caravan

To adjust mapping is this just clicking a switch

:?:

To adjust the map you just unscrew the connector, you can drive the car with all the wiring in place it just bypasses it all automatically...Then you need a T10 screwdriver for two screw on the clear plastic lid...Then it is just a case of switching the jumper switches...Very easy to do...
