Yes but I will reset it again tonight.

Trying once last thing to night and that's putting a clear fuel hose from the fuel filter outlet to the pump to see if air is getting in.

If nothing comes up it going to the garage!

I don't like to be beaten but without a code reader it's getting difficult..... And my vag com won't work on it.

Would the argos ones work?

Try a 'hard reset' disconnect the earth (negative) lead off the battery then the live (positive) lead, touch them together to dissipate any residual current in the system.

Any basic OBDII reader should read the fault codes for you.

Have you tried running it gravity fed direct from a bottle?
Did you get the pipes on the right way round when you changed the filter?
Sorry if repeating, too tired to read the thread

Yes. The pipes are all on the right way round. But it did it before the filter change so its nothing I have done I don't think. There was an air lock in the clear tube last night (fuel wAs still pulling through though ) but it stalled twice when cold then ran ok all night. It's def worse when cold.

Apparently any basic obd11 reader will work on it which I thought wouldn't so I will get one today.....
Was going to take it to the garage but I could do with one any wAy for other vehicles . Will try that first.

The way forward in my opinion is to plug it to Consult (or equivalent scanner) and check data monitor to see what goes missing when it stall. It does sound like you have a more difficult problem than something simple. Try to find a good garage with diesel knowledge to sort it out.

Booked it into a garage. They are not near me but I know they are excellent.

It stalled this morning, left ignition ON and started it. stalled again, tried again and the time between starting and stalling becomes less each time as long as i dont turn the ignition off. untill it won't start...but

If I turn the ignition Completely OFF and start the truck it will run for a while then stall again.

So it must be resetting a sensor or relay or electrical device somewhere.

That sounds really perculier, i hope you can get it sorted, let us know how you get on & the cause of it :thumbright:

News update:

It's been in the garage a week and they cannot find any air entering the fuel lines. Nothing is coming up on the code scanner it's all clear.

They have reset the ecu and its still stalling after 20s when cold. It's only stalls in idle though.

I am at a loss now and I am thinking I may have to trade it in...

It's a shame as I like the truck but I can not have it stalling.....

Any one else any ideas.

I wonder.....
My garage thought may be the chain could be stretched and its cutting out to save the engine but would it not do this when reved or going up hill. Also would it show up on the diagnostic com.

It only does it on idle.

It sounds so much like the SCV issue problem that it makes me wonder whether the new one is faulty or the O ring has got damaged in the fitting process.
That was my problem faulty new SCV, no fault codes

I really hope you bottom your problem.
I went through a lot of fixes including timing chain modification.
Before I found my issue.
