Ok, so I have a bike problem..... about 11 of them at last count and I am always struggling to cart them around.

In the bed of my double cab aventura I have the roll n lock armadillo cover and it robs some space in the bed, hence I can't get a bike in there, upright and held fast with the tailgate shut  ( well not so I would go any distance anyway).

So taking my inspiration from F1Boy's thread and using his suggested bike fork mounts at the front I have come up with this:

I removed the top plate of the roll n lock, made 2 x 40mmx3mm flatbar pieces and sandwiched the plate between them to spread the load. I then bolted to the mounting points of the top plate and voila a sturdy structure thats near invisible when the bikes are off. Best bit I can now shut the tailgate!! :clappy:

The mounts are centred on the line of the c-channel so my skinny wheeled bikes drop into the channels and are held fast. The fat tyre stuff (the MTB, Downhill bike and cruisy stuff) have a c-clamp in front or behind (or both) where I strap down to.
Just been out today to a local race and they never moved, what a feeling of security particularly instead of all the permutations of thrown bikes in I did before.

anyway hope the pics tell you all you need to know, enjoy!!

Nice one. I love the way we all come up with solutions for our particular and specific issues. :D :clappy:

Nice job there mate :) I have done something similar but my system can be either mounted into the floor of the truck via the two floor C channels OR (and my prefferred option) is that I have the same quick release system but fitted to some thule bars on top of my Mountain Top. I get the three bikes on the back no probs :) When I am home I will post up osme pictures.
I had thought of doing the same as you but as I want them on top of the Mountain Top I think the forks would hit the back window??
Nice work there though mate!

Ta! I did try to work it out so everything was in the bed mounted to the c channels but the roll and lock robs space at the top so thats not a goer!

Would love to see your solution too :)

now thats a very neat job mate. theres a market for them.

Good work dubnut. I was hoping to do something similar but on top of my tonneau but after inspection, I don't think its gonna be strong enough (ABS) so I'm back to the drawing board !
