D40 4 wheel drive problem

Hi everyone new to the forum,
I have had a search for 4 wheel drive issues and wondered if anyone had come across the problem I have. I engage 4 wheel drive high and the symbol front wheels just flashes and stays like that, same if I put it in 4lo. I don't think it is engaging at all and staying in 2wd, just thought I would check if anyone's had the asme issue.

sometimes get that issue but just roll motor forward a bit and make sure im out of gear it usually goes in then without issue

other than that may need to change oils
what year and mileage are u at

HI

There is loads on here about 4WD issues. Basically, there are 3 switches underneath the vehicle on the back of the transfer box and these malfunction. Also there is a neutral sensor which gets involved as well. You may need to replace some or all of the 3 switches.

Hi it's a 56 plate with 75k on the clock, I check the other posts for switches.

The first port of call is your 3 transfer box switches.

I had issues with mine as well. Ended up changing the sensors on the transfer box and then a new transfer box too. It worked for a bit then stopped again. That ended up to be the abs sensor had broken, so replaced the wheel bearing as the abs sensor is inbuilt in side the wheel bearings.
