Yes I have checked everything, originally I did an ECU reset I have now cleaned the MAF sensor,I have checked it has had a new oil filter, air filter and fuel filter, and I have also now ran a diagnostics check and know faults showing. So I suppose the next port of call is the SCV is that a DIY job or garage job, bearing in mind I am not the best with mechanics.... Just one other question should you use the cold start button when you first fire it up then switch it off once yo are on the move as this seems to cure it or certainly make it better, but it seems strange to me as no other car I have ever drove has had one, is it like a choke is that the problem or am I just clutching at straws???

The switch is just a way of achieving a higher idle speed. It's handy for warming the engine up and clearing the screen in the mornings or when using jump leads. You shouldn't need it in normal circumstances.

Have a look at the following thread regarding the SCV

Thanks I have checked out the thread and it looks like this could be the problem, I will look at getting a new SCV on Monday so fingers crossed this will sort it out. I will let you know the out come once I get it fitted, but it definitely sounds as it could be this it does feel like it is staved of fuel and want to stall.

Regards
Dave

Well the pick up went into a diesel specialist a few weeks ago they said that the turbo boast solenoid was faulty and that's all the faults they could find, guess what they swapped it over and it has not made any difference. I have read else where that the Navara is flat in 1st gear and you need to give it a bit throttle to pull away on a hill...........could this be my problem or is that just wishful thinking??? if I hold it on the hand brake give it a bit revs then it pulls away fine I am used to drive a van with loads of torque low down that just hold on the clutch on the steepest of hills with no revs..........I have also noticed a siren noise when its cold as you come off the throttle from 2k down to 1.5k is this a dreaded turbo failure as mentioned in this forum, I asked the garage to have a listen but the engine was warm by then so it was not as loud but they said it was fine as were all the tests they ran except the turbo boast solenoid :-(

No I told the garage about the SCV and what everyone on the forum had said but they said they did a fuel pressure test and everything was ok, and they could replace it but they did not think that was the problem. I have not blanked of the EGR yet but I will order the part this week if I get a chance.

So you believe a garage that fitted a part you did not need against numerous owners that have had similar problems and then had positive results by changing the SCV.

Fit the EGR blank and see how you get on. If the problem persists it has to be a SCV.

Its not a case of believing the garage, its somewhere I have used in the past without problem but they said the turbo boast solenoid was showing a fault however they could got guarantee it would fix the problem and sure enough it did n't. I'm not happy ÂŁ300 lighter the only consolation is I get VAT back and can right some of the money off my tax bill but still what a waste of money he said the would run more tests and not charge me but TBH its the down time and hassle of having it off the road.

This is proberbly of no relevance what so ever to your Nav but our car, a Nissan 300zx is exactly the same when cold, we dont have a helpful forum like this one so when something gets irritaing it has to go 200 miles away to a specialist, on our 'car' its simply down to cold lubricant & once its warmed through, it runs spot on. Dunno if its the same with the Nav but maybe put your mind at rest :thumbright:

Or maybe the temp sensor in the gearbox, dunno if the Nav has a filter in the earbox, is yours an auto?

What can I say, you've wasted ÂŁ300 instead of spending about ÂŁ120 on the SCV as I told you. There is no point coming on asking for help if you are going to ignore the advice you are given :throw

There are a few members in the NE of England that I'm sure would be willing to help you.

Thanks Spirit :) its a manual, and lookskyward1 it was not a case of ignoring what was said on here, when the guy at the garage said the turbo boast solenoid was faulty so it made sense to replace it regardless of whether or not it was causing the problem yes it does feel like a waste of money, but he said it was knackered and I have no reason to disbelieve him as he has worked on both mine and others I know vehicles regularly with no problems.

yes same threads that lead to a non conclusive answer.. they just stopped the thread.. not letting anybody know if it was solved or not.. that’s why I post on all the threads I see that they are having the same issue to see if the owners come up and say 4 years later what was wrong with it..

Ok, best then if you quote them (like I have done here), that sends them an email.
