Re: D40 Poor Paintwork / Roof Corrosion/Rust

I'll have to adress it because it's looking bad and I want my truck to last me a few more years.

If we get some more good weather before winter, it will happen this year, if not first thing next spring.

And shame on Nissan for yet another thing they can't do properly. One might expect a truck chassis to be durable.

I totally agree, they should dip/galvanize the chassis, but instead i think they spray them with ****? http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Disgusting/****.gif

Re: D40 Poor Paintwork / Roof Corrosion/Rust

I had a free respray from my Nissan garage.

I basically told them I would park the car up near to their garage with a large sign on it inviting potential buyers to inspect what happens on a 3 year old Navara....

Mine was corroding on the top of windscreen and around the roof bars.

The build quality is shocking

Re: D40 Poor Paintwork / Roof Corrosion/Rust

I have the same problem with flaking rust along the roof channel and front centre of the roof above the windscreen. Mine is an 06 Nav. would love some info on how to get this repaired by Nissan at their cost. Also just had the timing chain mod done by Bilcar. Very professional company and pleased with the outcome and for peice of mind.

Rusty Roof - HELP!

Morning All,

We had a major down pour last night - standard english weather.

I got in my Nav this morning to take the little lady to dance class and noticed some drips of rain on my centre console :nailbiting

I immediately thought, **** its coming through where i had fitted the light bar!

I took the roof centre console out (lights & sunglass holder) where the drips were, and it was staring me in the face :faint

All around my aerial has rusted/rotten and wet.

Any ideas on how I can fix this one?????

Plus, its still raining :censored:

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Well it's a 55 plate so it's nearly 9 year old, worth a try though mate

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

I make that 3 years left iirc...
12 year anti corrosion I think on mine, will try find the relevant info later

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Thank you matey, do you literally walk into Nissan Servicing and say look at this? Do they all come with the anti corrosion as standard mate then for 12 year?

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

I have just spoken to my local Dealer and they are saying I need to go down and have photos taken to start the claim which gets sent to Nissan. They told me if it's a water ingress I won't be covered and it'll be cost to myself :(

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

When I had mine done I just popped into the main dealer, spoke to one of the ladies on the desk who didn't think it would be covered but was happy to take pictures and pass them onto Nissan, got a call about 4 weeks later asking when did I want to bring it in as it was going to be sorted under warranty. They made the arrangements with an independent bodyshop who told me exactly what would be done and that they would also be responsible for it if it happened again with no need to go back to the main dealer.

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Where was your corrosion mate?

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Hi Mark, just got your PM and saw this.

You've done the right thing going to the dealer. I contacted Nissan Customer Services via email. Despite me sending them the photographs they still want me to visit a dealer to set the claim going.

I reckon they'll be struggling to get out of fixing yours, that looks horrendous. :jawdrop

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Fingers crossed mate, when I took the light centre out of roof lining a load of rust fell in, I'm scared to touch it in case my finger goes through it.
I'm just concerned they will play the "water ingress" card.
It has spread right out though like the size of a saucer.

Mine was toward the rear of the roof and was only very small pinpricks but a good few scattered around, what it looked like underneath I have no idea it didn't have to bother checking.

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Well like I say fingers crossed they will do it under warranty then

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

Hi, just had my photos taken at the Nissan Dealership. Took pictures of the bad part I shown you in the previous pictures, and patches on my roof.
He said I will do my part but I doubt they will do it due to me not being the original owner/not having full Nissan Service history/every time it's serviced at Nissan it should be treated for this. Also the bad bit by the aerial looks like ingress of water.
:(

It is water ingress. But it has been caused by poor corrosion protection in the first place.

Since when has the dealer inspected paintwork during routine servicing and even if they did what treatment are they talking about.

Re: Rusty Roof - HELP!

I have no idea mate, same as why should it matter if I am not the original owner. As far as I'm aware the warranty is for anti-corrosion 12 years, and the vehicle is 8 years and corroding. Just so frustrating :( same as full service history at Nissan??
