Hi,

My alarm on the Pathy is playing-up, seem to be going off after about an hour after I've lock-it. I've already been out and opened and shut all the doors but still happening (could be a long night).

Not really had any issues at all until now, the lock/unlock button on the tailgate has be temperamental and occasionally refuse to work but the cars alarm has been great, that was until last night when it went off the one time.

Any ideas please before I upset my neighbours :( ?

Probably rare but I've heard of spiders inside the plastic moulding surrounding the ultrasonic detectors! If it's like mine they are up by the sunroof controls.

Another guess is that although the doors are shut, you may have a faulty switch although I would imagine you might see the internal lights come on if it's not the bonnet switch.

Have you changed the battery in your key fob recently? Mine started doing similar things about a year ago, new battery in fob and good as gold since. Maybe a coincidence but worth a couple of quid to try?

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Never thought about spiders but sounds very plausible, especially in a 9 year old car.

Today I gave the sensors (the ones by the sunroof) a blast with the henry, now will have to wait and see how it goes (could have a angry spider with concussion waking-up later).

I changed the battery in the main fob about a month ago but will check
it and the spare one if it happens again.

Thanks again.

Opps spider awake!!!, the Mrs has just told me its gone off again so will check those batteries right now.

New batteries fitted in both, they were reading a little low, fingers crossed this was the reason, thanks Bob Goat.

As I may have the attention of fellow T Spec owners, has anyone managed to update the software/firmware on the center console, I've updated the navigation so no longer driving through fields but just wondered.

Just went again  so other than leaving it unlocked don't know what to do.

Will try taking the sensor cover off tomorrow and have a good look.

If I remember rightly there is a way of disabling the sensor, does anyone know how?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Oh, sounds like you had a rough night then! For now you could pull the fuse until you find the solution.

To disable the sensors from the manual:

1. Turn the ignition switch 3 times within 7 seconds from the OFF to the ON position.
2. Close the door(s) / bonnet / boot and press the lock button on the keyfob. A warning buzzer in the combination meter (dashboard to us) will sound to indicate that the ultrasonic sensors have been disarmed.

I suppose repeating (1) may re-enable the sensors, doesn't say in the manual.

Thanks for that info nomisco, just tried doing that and I heard the buzzer, so I guessed that was is it.

As a test I threw the dog in the car and locked it but the alarm went off again within a minute.
Going to try it again later (when the dog has forgiven me).

Surely there must be some way of testing the alarm via the console, I entered the settings but it only shows a handfull of ithings like Handrake ON OFF etc

I take it the interior light is going off like it should (i.e. all door switches are ok) and the bonnet switch is ok?

Guess they're good as never had the interior light come on when they shouldn't, although I notice the bonnet switch does not seem to activate them.

Took the sensor apart today and gave it a blow, so playing the waiting game now.

Faulty BCM or voltage issue?

So they should be ok... once locked thou give the doors a little pull with the handle and see if it activates the light...
the bonnet switch doesn't turn the light on but could be a problem, unplug it and try again...

hopefully its the sensor but not convinced...

Did exactly that earlier with the bonnet switch and it seemed to be a little moist around the seal that sits inside the connector.

Tried the routine to disable the sensors again but hard to tell if I was successful, it beeped the first time but doesn't want to beep anymore.

Anyway its been ok for a few hours now, so fingers crossed it behaves.

Thanks guys.

Just gone off again, I may be wrong but it only seems to happen at night time.

Regarding pulling the fuse I assume if I did I'd loose the key less entry as well as alarm?

I would concider a power drain issue
do some basics like make sure all internal lights are off even with doors open
turn off radio and lights dont leave on auto and ensure fans are off so no draft
make sure blue tooth is disconnected

then see if it alarms

Do we assume you pulled the fuse then? I still think it's a voltage irregularity from the BCM (Body Control Module). Carts, any idea about this?

It seems to have fixed itself.
Tried many thing from the advice I was given, except pulling the fuse / replacing the BCM.

I did suspect some scroat was trying to get me to leave it unlocked but with my wife's eagle eyes I feel I can discount that, shame really as it would be such an easy fix or should I say break lol.
