Thinking about getting a navara as my new daily runner vechicle but not sure weather to go for the d22 or d40 as they both seem to have good points and bad points. So can ask peoples opinion and information like mpg road tax and how comfortable each are in everyday use?

It may help if you tell us what your intended use for a Navara would be.

The basic answer is they are large work vehicles with basic suspension, they could not compete with a 'normal' road car for comfort and handling.

The D22 is a more workmanlike truck and they are almost bulletproof if the bottom end mod has been done..... properly. It is ideal as an offroader out of the box.

The D40 in comparison is more powerful and comfortable with it is as good as it can be offroad given its limited ground clearance. it is a brilliant tow tug. My road tax is ÂŁ215 per year. The D40 has a lot of weaknesses generally caused by technical 'improvements'.

Have a look at these threads as well as others in this section.

I have used the search button and found alot of answers to my other questions but was asking for some first hand experience so there is no need to make people look silly ots a forum where people will look and ask questions that might have been asked before.

It still baffles me that people come on here expecting these questions not to have been asked before :faint
It still baffles me that people would even contemplate buying one at all lol, it's only when you get one you realise how easy these defects are to rectify and just what a motor you have once the **** design fault is rectified

not scared me off lol. the intended use is my everyday vehicle so driving work college and maybe the odd rough road but mainly just daily normal use
Both types would suit your use, the D40 was the updated version of the D22 in 2005 so it really boils down to how you have to spend. The newer the better in my opinion.

D22 for me love it bottom end modification is a MUST when it done regular servicing and your good to go
