I always worked on the principal of a 3 ton jack or axle stand for a 3 ton vehicle, or a 10 ton jack for a ten ton vehicle etc.
Not two 3 ton axle stands make 6.
I assumed for safety 3 ton per pair of 3 ton axle stands.

Missed the 4. Off 3 ton axle stands bit.
:really :bow

A 2 tonne jack and axle stands is fine for a Navara, it's not like you're lifting the whole truck up each time.

I've got a lightweight low profile 2 tonne trolley jack, and a normal 3 tonne, the 2 tonne lifts each side of the truck no problem.

Got 4 3 tonne axle stands, as they were a good deal at Costco, ÂŁ17 per pair

ive just bought a 2 ton trolly jack and a pair of axel stands rated at 2 tons but read the small print on the axel stand.
rated at 2 tons using the pair together not 2 tons per stand

so going to invest in a pair of stands with each stand rated at least 2 or 3 tons per stand after all if the trolly jack is going to fail it will be at the start of the work when you dont need the stands in place, but when you need the safety its going to be when you are working on the truck and you need to trust the axel stand are up to the job and more

Just looking at some stands and noticed they're rated at 3 ton for the pair - should I be looking for some rated 3 ton each just to lift one side or possibly the front or rear?

got mine from machine mart

If your using axel stands you will very rarely be holding the full truck up at the same time. A set of two or three ton stands will be fine, rates are normally given as a pair so 3 ton would be 1.5 per stand. You normally use in pairs so that both front or both rear wheels are off at the same time to prevent side slip. I have the same stands as lookskyward1 from Costco they are a nice bit of kit.

I have the Cosco ones same as skyward & LT, i use my 2 ton trolly for lifting each edge to say just chane a wheel but if i where to lift either the front end or back end i would use my 3 ton. :thumbright:
