Hi,

I've got a 2014 Navara and I want to reset the ECU. I have tried the sequence that worked dozens of times (doors closed, ignition ignition on for 3 secs, throttle 5 times in 5 secs, wait 7 secs then press and hold throttle until EML flashes- roughly 10 secs, then press and hold for another 10 to reset) on my 06 D40, but nothing happens on the new one?

Is there a different sequence or method, maybe through the connect system?

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers

As far as I know... and this is coming from my experience of resetting mine... there's no way of telling if the ECU has reset other than going for a steady drive.

When I've done mine, get to the last stage of the reset when the EML is flashing the error codes, press and hold accelerator for 10-15 seconds, (EML light will still be flashing), start her up and go for a steady pootle around to let the ECU learn how you drive.

It might be worth mentioning, I always do mine when the engine is already warm so that the learning process doesn't start learning from a cold start - up to you though...

Thanks for the quick reply- to confirm the sequence: key to position 2 (dash lights on) wait 3 seconds. 5full throttle pumps in 5 seconds. Wait 7 seconds. Full throttle for 10 seconds and EML should start flashing, let go of throttle.
Then to reset, press and hold full throttle for more than 10 seconds. Ignition off, then back on and start the truck?

Still not working!?!?

This is very frustrating- I know I know how to do the sequence, I've lost count of how many times I did it to my 06 Nav.

Any help appreciated! Does battery disconnection do the fuel pump and ECU reset, or is only the above method (or a new version of it?!) to reset the fuel pump?

Disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU but because it is a new model we do not know the consequences, (radio code, NATS etc.)

You've still not answered why you want to do a reset though! Is there another problem?

Check your user manual for any reference to a radio code or the consequences of a flat battery. If you cannot see anything give it a go but leave the battery off overnight to be on the safe side.

Good luck and let us know how you get on. :thumbright:

I tried the sequence a few times, but still couldn't get the EML to flash the 10, 10, 10, 10 for no faults- it just stayed on solid. No idea if it worked or not, guess I'll have to keep on eye on here for someone else to update the procedure! :censored:
