The other day after driving 15 moterway miles I stoped at my local supermarket for about 10mins and on returning to the car I noticed a puddle underneath the engine.
On tasting it I concluded it was antifreeze and it looked like about a half a cup that was freshly droped (not soked in)
I checked my water level and I was about 1 cm above the min mark so I toped it up and since then ive checked it a few times and its fine
I think I do have a leak as I toped it up to the max mark about 2 weeks ago
Question is how could it have been parked for 10mins and lose that much then just stop?
And whats the likely culprit the puddle was to the back right of the engine (looking in at it) parked on level ground
I had a good snoop round but couldn't see anything wet
Wifes going barmy cos I had nowt but coolant problems with the last car
Its a 57plate d40

Hi was it coolant or was it condensation dripping from the air con unit?

My immediate thought was condensed water from the aircon.

If it was a sweet taste and you're sure it was coolant, (and not dog pee  )there's no guarantee that the vehicle parked in that spot before you hadn't dropped it.

Have a look at the hoses from the bulkhead (heater) to the back of the engine. Cooland normally leaves a crystal deposit where it leaks. :dunno

Yea mabey I made a point of looking today when I parked up and 30mins later there was a puddle underneath in the same place but the coolant dosent seem to have droped or if it has not enough to notice
Same taste though nasty bitter

I do use the ac although its not very efficient at the moment cos it needs regasing

So I got back from work yesterday morning around 2am and parked up.

Came out the house around 1800 to find a puddle just in front of the passenger front wheel and still dripping.

Didn't use the AC at all so thought it was a bit strange.

Investigated a bit and it was one of the headlight washers leaking.

Pulled it up and down a few times and went to the pub... Two hours later all dry!

Could it be related to your puddle?
