Looks wise it's a bit meh, nothing all that special.

If it's got all the tech then I'll be staying well away from it. Owned a peugeot RCZ before the D22 and all the tech in there got right on my tits. Wiring loom was a nightmare. I do wish that manufacturers would do a completely stripped down version of their cars, no sat nav, beeps or any of the other fancy **** that could go wrong.

I do like how they have not gone down the route of electronic overload. (ie. there's a proper hand brake leaver!).

Who knows, in a few years when there's bull bars and suspension available for it, one might be on the shopping list!

Are there any technical specs on it yet?

I quite like it.... kind of a cross between a D40, Amarok and D-Max.

I'm not sure how they've reduced the roof height but increased the ground clearance - some black magic going on there!

All we need now is someone to buy one and give it a proper run around for a few months - any takers? :thumbright:

A price would be good too!

Nissan's latest iteration of the Navara pickup truck adopts a more upscale and refined look enhanced by the V-motion front grille with lots of chrome touches. There's also a dynamic character line as well as LED daytime running lights while the turn signals have been incorporated in the door mirrors. Fresh body paint choices include Savannah Yellow and The Earth Bronze combined with black B-pillars and chrome exterior mirrors.

The interior cabin has received a complete makeover with better materials and aluminum-like touches on the dashboard. The high-resolution TFT display in the instrument cluster provides access to compass and turn-by-turn navigation support, radio content, audio track and a fuel economy indicator.

The 2015 Nissan NP300 Navara features a reworked high-strength chassis together with an updated leaf suspension which have been engineered "to take punishment of intense daily usage." The turning circle has been reduced which should make the pickup more maneuverable around city streets.

Motorization is provided by a reworked 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter DOHC diesel engine offered in two states of tune: 163 PS (120 kW) and 403 Nm (297 lb-ft) as well as 190 PS (140 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). This updated engine manages to be up to 11 percent more economical than the previous generation. Nissan is also offering a revised inline-four 2.5-liter gasoline engine and both of them work with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The 4x4 mode can be activated while driving and is backed by a variety of assistance systems such as Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and Active Brake Limited Slip.

I like, a nice V6 with a manual gearbox and I could be tempted!!
Sadly, the press release only mentions 2 versions of the 2.5 4cyl. engine.

+Took a look at the tyres: toyo open country a25. Googled available dimensions in 18's: 235/65 r18... So narrower tyres. Not such a good idea when you want to unleash 550Nm from the v6...Maybe this way they could easier achieve the claimed smaller turning radius?

Load index 106 + speed rating "T": max 190km/h

Like the way it looks in dark brown and have to admit that my truck now suddenly looks a tad dated imo, but then again I also love the sound of my v6...

I like the new front but that's all. Maybe when I see one in real life.

Not yet convinced. Doesn't stand out from all the rest the way or old one does in my opinion.

On the other hand, those new rangers are starting to sell good over here. I see a few of them every day. My guess is Nissan will lose pole-position.

"The interior cabin has received a complete makeover with the same cheap plastic that has been painted silver, as seen in previous models, but in a slightly different layout"

Too cynical??

I was hoping it was a completely new truck and not a huge facelift. Having said that, the new Ranger is a brand new truck and (like most manufacturers) is having its fair share of teething troubles.

From the reports and videos I found it gets named different. The oz reports are calling it a D23 and others a NP300.

Initial rumours were no V6 but a 2.8 cummins diesel.

happened over here in germany a while ago, the nav lost it's spot at the top of pickup-sales imediately when the amarok came to life. don't think the ranger got it already, but should be close.
but all in all pickup trucks seem to grow in numbers around here. when i got mine you barely saw another one a week, now it's at least one per day.
if they ever get rid of the madness when registering a doublecab they sure will see a rise in popularity. i'm still in the process (7 months by now) to get mine classified as a car because i'm charged with road-tax for cars (emission based, almost three times the cost of the weight-based tax for lorries) and insurance for a lorry (about 50% more expensive than beeing a car), so the worst of all sides including i'm not allowed to tow anything on sundays because of the weekend lorry ban....

I'd settle for the 2.8 Cummins :thumbright:

the ford ranger is a completely new truck because the previous versions were bad (i would say rubbish compared to the hillux or the d22 back then but every man to his opinion)
of course the amarok would be first truck in germany, its a VW :p

also the double cab taxing or in some countries snugtops on a truck with license for rural use being illegal seems completely fair.
pickups used as jeeps should be taxed as jeeps and pickups used for your job should be taxed less.

if the would have used a proper engine, had an auto-box at that time and wouldn't be so ridiculously expensive i might have taken an amarok instead of the nav, after all it's a good truck. at least on that part nissan seemed to have learned from the downsiszing-trend and not put a smaller tubro-supercharged-to-oblivion engine in it.

and for the taxing: i'm not saying taxing mine as a car is unfair, because after all i use it as my personal car. it's just that they can choose arbitrary when they clasify it, regardless of what the registration says. the argument (backed by current laws!) is "the length of the cab from brake pedal to back is longer or as long as the bed, so the purpose of this vehicle is transporting people and therefor it's not a loory, regadless of what you are doing with it and what the registration says". Even if you'd use it solely for transporting stuff around and only ocasionally a few workers.
the insurance on the other hand says "it says lorry on the registration, so we insure it as one, can't insure it as a regular car as long as the regirstration is not changed", so you get the worst of both sides. i'm fine with either side, but not being played by the authorities to loose on all sides...

Think I'll stick with the prehistoric D40 now it's had the billcar mods..
Wouldn't thank you for a new model truck now with euro 6 technology

Over here pick up trucks are taxed like a van, light lorry. Less tax than a car with the same engine.

Needless to say pick up trucks are very popular over here and I'm happy with that. 8)
