Hi Guys & Gals

I've been talking to my local Nissan dealer and apparently they offer a deep engine clean for high mileage engines this is supposed to generally clean all the c**p out of the engine which increase engine performance & reduce fuel consumption and can also tell if there is excessive engine wear as there will be metal fragments in the filter after the clean

From what I under stand they drain the oil attach a machine where the oil filter fits and pump warm detergent through the engine 2 or 3 times then flush out and then blow it out with air fit new oil filter and refill with oil

what do you all think :dunno ?

Probably the garage owner is over 60, so he still remembers (and sells to younger customers ;) ) how oil change was done in distant past (oil out, flush oil in, engine running for 10-15 minutes, flush oil out and fresh oil in).
It certainly can't do any harm.

A cheaper way would be to drain the oil, then flush the system, then new oil and filter, and if you were really worried about any **** left behind, you could drop the sump, clean it and bolt it back on.

The **** that an un blanked EGR is more of a concern to me

Sounds good but to be honest there shouldn't really be that much **** in there anyway so its sort of pointless, its nor like its going to clean the combustion chamber
Agreed, with correct oil and changes, shouldn't be any gunk, I believe dropping to sump to check for bits of Nissan's shonkie timing chain tension guides would be more beneficial.

A mate of mine used to have an old E46 M3, which had a couple of problems. In trying to solve his problems it was suggested to him to try a Terraclean (which like mgkars states...this process sounds similar to a Terraclean) and he reported that it made little to no difference to the engine.
