So I've just got a dash cam and I wanted to know a couple of things.

2007 D40

1, How do you remove the roof consul , where the glasses holder is.

2, Is there a switch 12V there or do I need to run the cable around the window.

Thanks

Darrel

It is held on by a couple of spring clips near the front, you just need to pull it down hard. I did break one of the lugs off but super glue came to the rescue.

I didn't even think there might be 12v switched up there. I shoved the cable under the headlining - there is no sealed edge where it meets the screen. To get to the dash the rest of the way I pulled the door rubber off the back of the A post, there is a good gap all the way down.

Is there not ignition switched power from the sunroof?

Any update on your fitting? I've just ordered a Mini 0803 for delivery Monday!!

So after much messing around at the weekend, I finally got the dash cam fitted. Gave up on on trying to find a switched 12V source in the roof and just run the cable around the window and across the lower dash. All looks good and works fine. Most impressed with the dash cam which only cost ÂŁ20. Cant go wrong really.

Not sure yet since I've not driven at night for a while. I'll post some up shortly. But for ÂŁ20 you can't go wrong.

I saw a Dash Cam setup that looked pretty much the same in Halfords.....ÂŁ179.99.......

For those that wanted to know, I purchased another 12V cig lighter socket in halfords for ÂŁ4.99 and connected it the spare switched 12V feed behind the dash by the OBD port. plugs straight in. Couple of cable ties and the the whole things is tucked away nice and takes about 10 mins to fit. :)

And BTW, the date and time are now set.
