Im looking to raise my 56 D40 navara to allow me to fit my new MASSIVE 305/70/18 mud tyres. I want to lift the suspension as much as possible but without spending to much and without having to extend the brake pipes or anything else. So what is the most i can lift it without changing anything? Cheers.

3 inches front about 4ish inches on the rear and 40mm body lift on mine, wouldn't want to go to much higher on the standard brake lines, and I'm in need of longer shocks now as mine are at full stretch 90% of the time,

All down to budget, brake lines are probably the cheapest aftermarket part of a lift at about 70quid all round

I have a lift tech suspension lift kit fitted which uses 3" rear blocks and a spacer to lift the front 3"s, midland Road springs heavy duty rear leaf kit also gave just over inch or so of lift! 40mm body lift from milners also gives the extra clearance for larger tyres

I would imagine for yours you would need a fair bit of trimming and probably most definitely spacers to allow a bit more lock but I could be wrong on that one!

I am literally just about finished doing my body lift ( nipped in for a coffee) Firstly I wouldn't run that tyre size without regearing it which will cost mate. I have a Old Man Emu suspension kit + 50mm which is about a grand, it has longer shocks (OME part of the kit along with poly bushes) and standard brake lines. I run 265/70/17's which is as big as I would go on standard diff's 32/33 inches is plenty. HOWEVER I have only one spacer to fit to the cab and then 4 on the tub for a 40 mm body lift. As always my good friend Rich comes up with the goods and I am as always willing to be a guinea pig for him. My total lift will be just under 4 inches + my oversize tyres, plenty for a normal truck and unless you want a serious bill enough for most people, however Calmini make a nice 5 inch suspension lift kit and I suppose that you could do a body lift also BUT well over 2K for the kit wit UCA's etc. In other words you can get a body lift kit and a suspension lift kit for less than 300 ish but you pays your money and makes your choice

You cant fit 35's with less than about ÂŁ5000, the fact you mentioned budget rules this out as an option for you.

You could bodge yourself the space to physically get them in for a few hundred with a horribly large bodylift and a spacer block suspension lift. Although im not sure on the width, you would probably have to run spacers and then cut the arch lips so they didn't catch.

Then you need to strip apart the rear axle and fit new ring an pinions, (only available from the states) and you will definitely have to pull apart the front end, fit an M205 axle from a nissan titan (again shipped over from the states) as the standard navara RD149 front diff is not upto 35's and you will just crack the casing. This will also have to be re-geared to match the rear ring and pinions. Then to run the standard Navara front end, you will have to get some custom half shafts made to match the M205 diff to the navara hubs.

Theres a reason very few Navaras/frontier's are running 35's, its an expensive game.

I had 285/85/16 (35.07 inch) BF Goodrich mud tyres on my old standard navara D40 king cab and they fit ok, just trimmed a bit of the inner arch liner out, they very slightly rubbed on full lock.
It says here http://www.4x4tyres.co.uk/4x4_tyre_size_tool.php that the 305/70/18 tyre is 34.81 inch tall so slightly shorter than 285/85/16 so technically they should fit hight-wise but they are going to be a bit wider but i have 50mm spacers to go on so they should account for the extra width. I need as bigger tyres as possible as i am a tree surgeon and i have to go in some tricky off road places.

I found a suspension lift kit on ebay for just under ÂŁ200 3" front 2" rear.

Im on 285/75R16's now. You have to remember that that doesnt account for tread depth too, so they ultimately will probably measure more than 35" if you go for a mud terrain tyre.

Ahh that makes sense, however bigger tyres are really only useful for driving very rutted terrain, and the ruts are usually the type left by either 4x4's or tractors, so maybe not too much of an issue for your situation. You would probably be better off with either a proper suspension lift or a diff locker to give you better traction.

Do you tow a heavy trailer too?
