To check front wheel bearings:

Jack the front up so that the wheel clears the ground, use an axle stand for safety, then grip the top of the tyre with one hand, and the bottom of the tyre with your other hand, and rock the wheel in and out. If there is any play at all, it's a wheel bearing.

For the rear, do as andyrad has already said :thumbright:

Can the wheel bearing be replaced with out all the other bits, I think I read on here a while ago about a chap had to replace the hub and stuff as well. :x
I'll let you know next week, I'm fitting a new hub to mine on Friday and gonna strip the old one down and see if I can re-con it.

hello did you manage to strip it down to put in new bearings

That's a bummer mate, somebody somewhere must have those bearings, then all you need is a 30 tonne press

The press it wouldnt be a problem its nissans stupid design the wheel bearing is part of the hub so it isnt possible to just replace the bearing.

i found a web site selling them but im waiting on an email from them to confirm they would be suitable for au model.

I thought the bearings could be removed, but Nissan won't sell them seperately?, so if the bearing itself could be sourced couldn't it be removed and replaced?

nah the hub is the bearing the inner race is what your wheel and front cv attach to and the outer race is what bolts to the spindle so if i press apart it would not be repairable unfortunatly.
when i fit a replacement i will press apart but for now i need it to enable me to move the nav from the driveway.
