Has anyone found a unit that pretends to be the CD changer that plugs in and works? It's on my list of things to look at...

I saw a thread on another Navara site and a guy on there had listed everything he had done, and determined that it cannot be. He went as far as emailing and phoning dealers / suppliers in different countries without joy. There are CD unit emulators that on some websites will claim to work with your nav unit, but they will not! (X-Car Link & Grom Audio included).

I've got an IO Play2. It sits inline with the existing wiring - so no modification - and has more poke and sounds better than the factory kit. It really is a comprehensive piece of kit. The problem with fitting another head unit altogether is the loss of function of the on-board computer and the fiddling to get the reverse camera to work (if you have one fitted).

I should also add that you can't just slot another head unit in if you have factory fitted navigation. You will need the different fascia from the non-navigation model and different mounting brackets. I can tell you that the brackets are ÂŁ50 for a pair from Nissan! The swap out is far from difficult if you're competent in that kind of thing, but at the same time it isn't exactly trivial!

I had a parrot mki9000 fitted for around ÂŁ140.00
Easy phone calling/voice recognition and mp3 music play through that. Sounds great too with my standard nav set up.
