looking hard for one with a thermo kit, but confused.
diameter????
suck/blow????
thermo kit????

best place to purchase one.

sorry this has been discussed before. but never got the answers i was looking for

cheers rich

Re: kenlowe fan, muxh better made.

None of them, all rubbish. Get a second hand one off a mondeo. Suck is best. For a switch either get a bit of straight tube and put it inline with a proper sensor or buy one ready made.

Just measure the size of the exit pipe from the radiator. Easiest way without taking the hose off is to put a piece of string around the outlet, measure the length of the string and divide by 3.14.
Yea, I know it's cold outside!

cheers for the advice chaps.
but im after the spec from someone who has fitted one before.
and a how too.
i have read the details on the kenlowe site.
but need to know about fitting kit and adjustable temp control.
not too bothered about price. but i think its gonna cost around the ÂŁ200 mark.
small price to pay for a quieter engine and maybe some small mpg/power gains.

the noise is doing my head in now

Hello
The diameter of the water cooler connection is 36 mm inlet/outlet and the hose outside diameter is aprox 42 mm.

thanks for that, im trying to get this ordered by the weekend.
just waiting on quotes.

well, fan now ordered. 12" 2000 series kenlowe fan with temp sensor that sits inside the blades of the rad.
no idea of what else is included until it arrives.
but not too bothered about the fitting. as i will be in good company whilst i do it.
a auto electrician and 2 long time served mechanics to call upon if needed.

ill be glad to see the back of the viscous. bloody thing is so noisy im tempted to find a db meter and test before and after.

Hello
It is what they recommended or how did you choose the kit/size?
I ordered just the spool piece so far and I am confused because I need to install also a temperature sensor for an additional digital temperature indicator and I don't know if is the right place to pick up the signal for both of them.
The cooling fan thermo switch should get the signal from the engine outlet but for the indicator I am thinking that the best point would be out from the cooler ?!It would give me an idea if the fan is working or not but in the same time I can install a manual /auto switch with "ON" light indicator and install both of them sensors on the same spool and see the temperature value out from the engine!?
What is your opinion about?
Thank you!

when i did mine, (was a two stage fan not kenlowe but Spal) i fitted my switch right next to engine thermostat, i followed the manual according to which,
Valve opening temperature: Above 80 - 84°C (176 - 183°F)
Valve lift: More than 10 mm/95°C (0.39 in/203°F)
so my fan comes on at 81 at stage one, medium speed and at 91 at stage two, full speed.
hope it helps (1 month now no problems but safe results will come at summer, so far the fan sucks air really good, couldnt tell the differance from mechanical to electrical, i guess it will be ok since petrol engines which run hotter have no problem anyway)

i should also add i didnt notice any gains (its hard to measure little differance next to zero when counting lt/100km ) so even if i got 2more mpg i cant detect than in mls.
no changes in engine sound (apart from the obvious at stop when it used to come on)

I have a 13 inch Spal switched remotely so that it won't come on whilst wading

finally fitted the kenlowe fan, and thermo switch.
and decided to remove the old fan shroud.
the only issue. i drained down the water system, as i cant remember ever doing it.
but on fill up, there is a tiny leak somewhere, no water. only steam. but not enough to find where from.
im guessing i have disturbed it.
any advice on a additive to add, that will seal it.
cheers rich
