hi all, my heater in my nivara has been getting lower and lower in temp for a while and is now only blowing cold air? any help? I have changed thermostat, checked fluids (there fine), temp gauge stays regular.

Nivara d40 2007 2.5td

common fault or random, many thanks in advance!

Did you bleed the air out of the system when you refilled? The D40 can air lock and the heater is the first to display any symptoms.

It might be worth taking a heater hose off at the EGR cooler and top up the hose until there is a flow through the open spigot.

I will check but I only refilled, I didn't drain so not sure it would be an air lock. I will try bleed it today and come back if its worked or not. I have the feeling its more sinister though!

Many thanks for the fast response (I'm cold) haha

will check back in when its bled.

Not a regular fault on a nav but I used to own a rangerover and that is a regular fault on them and in there case it's the heater blend motor
It's basically a moterised flap between the hot and cold ducts that seizes! On a rangerover it's a complete dash out job, but wouldn't know we're it is on a navara or if they even have one?
But before you go for your screw driver and attack the dash I'd check the heater matrix pipes going in into and out of the bulkhead! With the engine warm they should be too! if 1 or both are cold or significantly cooler you have a blockage or air lock!

oh ********! I had come to this conclusion a few mins ago, as they do have one and started to hope it was something else! oh well sounds like it must be that then, anyone have a workshop manual that will open on mac?
just want to locate where behind the dash it is before ripping it all apart.

Thank you for your help!!!

Ok, checked and bled with no prevail. Anyone have any ideas?
All help appreciated.

Thanks! Merry xmas!
Did you follow the specified bleed procedure? Noting that if you not have a manual that you may not have.

I don't want to scare you, but when the headgasket went on my 07 the heater was the only initial sign... fingers crossed.

Is the head gasket a common issue?
Just asking cos I'm losing water! Not much maybe a pint a month but I can't for the life of me find were it's leaking out
