Hi guys ive just got a hardtop has anyone fitted the standard roof bars to a hard top but backwards if you get me so the part thats near the window screen is fitted
above the rear window so they all run in together and blend in ??

I was playing with the idea of getting some exhaust tubing bent and welded then powder coated
I have no intention of ever putting anything on them (just for looks) so I'd get away with exhaust tube

I like your idea, that could look quite smart? Have you thought about having a rummage around a breakers yard to get some genuine Nav bars?

Just a word of warning if you going down the standard bars on backwards route
I looked into it and the mounting feet are curved so may not fit flush on a flat surface!

:+1 and they may be too long

I've got a set of nav bars I'll be looking to shift shortly. Finally got my new rack fitted tonight :)

The front feet are definitely curved though.

Has anyone who was thinking of doing this tried reshaping the original feet to fit flat on the canopy?

Depending on the type of plastic of course, sometimes when I need to reshape plastic I stick it in the oven for a while to soften it and then let it cool in the new shape!

Just a thought........

Hi
I have this type of hard top and looked into doing what you are wanting to do as I wanted to have bike carriers at the back and a roof box at the front and like you for aesthetic reasons .
If you are tempted to load anything on it according to the manufacturers of the box it is not rated for carrying a roof load as it is not strong enough, so I canned the idea.
