I actually love the Equator front end, looks like a "truck" should look imo.

Anyway, we're going off topic now, let's have a bloody good argument on what type of vehicle a Navara is.

unless you know someone who owns one of these.

THEN ITS A SKIP

It's forward thinking of the L 2 0 0 to include a clothes rail in the load bed for all those pink suits. They really understand their client base.

Sorry to be boring, virtually all our vehicle terms go back to horse drawn vehicles.

The term carriage is a 4 wheeled vehicle specifically for carrying people. This has been abbreviated to c a r, even the Romans used the word carre.

A truck was a simple load carrying vehicle with no sides or roof. A few centuries agoit was called a truckle.

A wagon was a truck with sides and a roof.

Lorry is an exception, it has no obvious root.

So if the main purpose is people carrying, it is a c a r.

If the main purpose is carrying a load, it is a truck.

Inherently loads of other vehicle terms have horse drawn roots: cab, cabriolet, chassis, coupe, sedan, etc etc.

:study: boffin!

i like to call my nav a truck, but around here noone would understand. to call something a truck here it's got to be in the 7.5t class at least. And i even changed my classification to "off road vehicle for carrying up to eight people, Pickup" , before it could be translated as "loory up to 3.5t with open box"

so as much as i'd like that my nav would be reffered to as a truck, everything that is smaller than a medium lorry around here is called a car.

if it was a two seater, it would be a bonafide pick up truck, as a 5 seater, its a car with a small open storage area.
