Hello all,

Ive now thankfully sourced myself a good complete engine for my d22 to replace the exploded engine thats currentlg in there. Im going to fit the upgraded arp rod bolts and acl bearings to make sure i have no more worries of it deciding to go pop when im in the middle of no where for example, but before i get to work i have a few questions id like answering if any of you will be so kind.

Firstly, ive whipped the crank out and its currently sat in front of me but what size are the 'standard' crank journal sizes supposed to be for the big ends and mains so i can check it has an 'unground' crank of the correct spec before i order the bearings?

Secondly, i know about the issue with the o ring seal on the pick up pipe and the degrading/flattening of it over time and ive read about fitting a few seals of similar size to take up any excess gaps above and below it but ive also seen on the billcar site a modification tube that im assuming is fitted to eliminate the need of extra seals etc, my question is am i assuming correctly and if so how is it fitted correctly?

Lastly, other than the bearings, rod bolts, oil pick up pipe mod tube and a rear crank seal is there anything else it would be a good idea to change?
im going to inspect timing chains setup, oil pump etc etc, but im talking more in terms of internally on the engine.

Sorry for the long winded post but id rather arm myself with as much knowledge as possible while im doing the build now, instead of putting the engine in the truck to then find ive overlooked something and ive got to do it with engine in situ.

Thanks for any help :awesomework

Dont forget to blank the EGR whilst its out :thumbright:
Ok thanks for the heads up, do you know whether i just whack a plate in to blank it and remove the egr completely or does it need to stay in place so i can leave it connected electronically to stop any faults showing on the ecu?

Also has anyone got a copy of the workshop manual knocking round on their computer somewhere or know where i can get one? I dont mind paying a couple quid donation etc if needed, having a manual is going to be a good reference point me thinks

Has anyone got a copy of the manual they can have a quick check on to confirm the sizes of the crank journals, i measured them today and the main journals were 63mm and the big end journals were 52mm, does anyone know if that is measuring as standard size?

I cannot tell you about the sizes but I do know the crankshaft should not be re-ground as they snap shortly after being done.

Try a PM off to Chris Vince, he is the go to guy for all D22 stuff :thumbright:
Ok mate cheers, im gonna give billcar a ring tomorrow to order some bits so hopefully they'll be able to tell me anyway.
