Hi all..

Anyone have their roof gulley resprayed under warranty by Nissan?

My 2008 LWD is booked in for the repair/spray work to the roof (under warranty :D) but I have been told by the service manager that because the sealer is reapplied by hand and that the finish " although not horrible" is different to the robots efforts.

This has me worried that the job will look like a hatchet job :/

Anybody had this work done?, what do they do to treat the rust? How well does this sealer look after the repair? Has the rust come back through further down the road?

Basically, what can I reasonably expect and what assurance can I ask for?

A couple of points to put your mind at rest;

You have done well to convince your dealer to do this under warranty. :bowdown1

They are professionals, you'll get a good quality job that will prevent rot in the future

What chances do i have to have the bit of early stages rust above the windscreen taken care of....

I had my complete roof resprayed under warranty about 4 years ago, was done by an independent bodyshop and they did a first class job, you can't tell it's been done.

It should be covered by the warranty just make sure there aware of it and they should take care of it.

Ok folks I've been busy over the last couple weeks but in that time I have had the work done to the roof.
The job looks A1 with no signs of bad prep or bad finish, colour match is perfect.

Had them respray the inside of the fuel filler while they were at it too as there was rust that needed treated there.

Overall very happy with the job. A mate of mine is now going to see if he can get the same repair done.. Fingers crossed

I dropped by my local Nissan but it was raining again!. They need pics etc to be able to submit a claim

I had my LWD done about 2 years ago under warranty, done a good job however there is one bubble starting to come back above the windscreen on the edge, I have also noticed a couple of discoloured marks on the edge of the back window recently so I assume this is the start of some more bubbles of rust starting so make sure you keep an eye on the back window too :awesomework

I asked the lassie at reception how long the work is warranted for when I went to collect it but she didn't know..

If I see any blistering before the years out I will be ******, according to the workshop manager they paint on a rust treatment, so as long as they preped it properly and the treatment is quality I should be golden, the rust was only coming through where there was no/thin paint cover.

I'm still shocked that companies arnt galvanising steel parts yet
At the very least they should be galvanising the body shell ,chassis and major suspension parts

Well my local Glyn Hopkin took pics and my details so hopefully they submit a claim and I get a positive reply!
