If it can handle more than 500kgs in the back and can transform it in a ******* pool with a garden hose and a tarp...its a truck LOL
Some american trucks/utes cannot carry 500kg in the back...

my old Ford Mondeo had more than 500kgs in the back, as I had to collect the mother-in-law from the airport :) does that make it a truck?

Ute is a utility vehicle, isn't that what a Nav is, a utility vehicle, we just call em trucks.

Same as we call sausages, sausages, Aussies call em snags but they are still sausages.

yeah but if you look at what they call utes they are all car based pick-ups

Yes a UTE is a C A R based vehicle, it's basically a C A R with the boot sawn off and replaced with a tub.

Usually a Holden with a big engine, not sure about the chassis, i'm guessing it's a "U" type instead of the box chassis found on pick up trucks?

Bit like the Ford P100, which is C A R based on the Ford Cortina, and later the Sierra, oh and what about those little VW pick ups?

Re: vehicle or Truck?

I recently went to look at an Audi Q7 for a family member and took a few pics of the paperwork for them.

The pic below is of the vehicle registration certificate (logbook) for Ireland.

D3 in the code description is the body type, please see the red circle........... :happy0071

I haven't checked the paperwork for my own Nav's but I'm pretty sure it says pickup or crewcab

"Jeep" in Ireland seems to be a generic term for any 4wd and doesn't really take into account the brand name, might come from Just Every Essential Part.

A bit like "Hoover" for a vacuum cleaner.

Every Hoover is a vacuum cleaner, but not every vacuum cleaner is a Hoover...... :D

I think we'll let the poll run for a bit more but, it's already clear to see, the Navara is most definitely not a vehicle!

I would have thought a Nav was both..... :dunno

As above, all Navs are vehicles but not all vehicles are Navs.....

Eureka....

I thought those in the inside would be able to bypass this for reasons of clarity and the greater public interest........ :happy0071

From what i've seen an the Aussie truck websites, navara forums and pickup pages, any type of pickup is a Ute, so i dont agree with this.
