Morning guys
So been thinking about this for a few days and though I'd ask the pros and cons
Since my eldest has had a little girl "isobella" we've realised that family outings have become a problem due to lack of seats! And since I don't really use the navara as a pickup anymore it's become more of a family c.ar anyway so I'm thinking maybe I should trade in for a 7 seater
I really do love the navara so a pathfinder is the obvious choice
Is there any maintenance differences between the two
Cost wise how much extra would I be looking at for my 57 aventura for same year (or round abouts)
Any comments or advice?
Anyone fancy doing a px?
Did they do the v6 in a pre facelift?

**** just done a online check how can they charge so much more for what is essentially the same vehicle

Only a couple of negative points:

Road tax, almost double

Some parts slightly harder to get and therefore more expensive. ( Rear suspension and brakes)

The obvious benefits of Pathfinder ownership over the Navara are;

Comfort and handling will be a lot better due to the independant rear suspension and slightly different transmission.

Extra passenger capacity while still retaining a large load area if needed.

At the end of the day, it comes down to cost but it sounds like a you're an ideal candidate for a Pathfinder :thumbright:

What about insurance? Would a pf be cheeper or they gonna screw me too?
I'm hoping that parts won't be a problem as I've owned my nav for 2 years and not had to "repair" anything

The Navara is considered to be a commercial vehicle whilst a Pathfinder is a polluting luxury offroader

ÂŁ500 or so from what i remember?
Depends on the age. March 2006 is when they became expensive to tax, and that didn't change until the facelift model (2010?) when they produced the 190BHP engine. However, that only applies to the manual, as the 2010 onward model in automatic is > 224g CO2 / km, so that around the ÂŁ475 mark to tax. Mine's a 2008 and is the Euro4 engine, so ÂŁ500 / year tax.

I wouldn't change the Pathfinder for anything, and I've accepted that with a big heavy car, a lot of those from that era are going to be ÂŁ285 to tax anyway, so in reality the difference is ÂŁ200 / year. It's not something that bothers me at all. I enjoy it enough to live with that!

If you can live with the tax thing, I would say go for it!

They never did (at least in the UK) a V6 Pathfinder, and production of the current R51 Pathfinder ended in September 2014. Nissan UK do not the Pathfinder on their website any more. Could that help them to hold their price?

ÂŁ290 per year on a early 06
Think I could stomach a year older if it saves over ÂŁ200 a year
Would probably help on resale too if I advertise as cheeper to tax than a 07!

Yea I think it might be a good idea
What's the performance like on the euro 3 auto pathfinder compered to the euro 4 nav auto? (Got to be auto because of bad knee! Waiting for replacement + I'm a lazy cu#t)
What sort of value would mine be worth., 57 aventura auto 108k not a mark on it
With a pegasus canopy

my 56plate pre facelift made it to 40k on the original DMF/clutch. my facelift 2011 is on 75k and feels ok.no idea if its luck or if there's improvements

the additional hp of the facelift model makes 6th gear useable on most if not all roads. the lower HP version can be a pain on anything less than a dual carriageway.

my road tax is 285 (2011 manual)

the 18" alloys are a good improvement on handling although the suffered badly from the white worm with being a polished face.

Auto 4wd is great in the winter cold and unpredictable roads, and even in the summer the car feels much more "planted" when its switched on.

facelift dash/console differences might be subtle, but definitely an improvement over the old.

Can the pf be used on roads in 4wd?

I also had a courtesy navara last year while the pathy was in for repair, and when I collected the pathy I had to transfer a freshly delivered 14ft trampoline over. in the Navara it didn't fit in the bed/canopy, so had to leave the tailgate open and tie it in. it fitted nicely in the pathy with the seats down, and the tailgate shut just fine.

and yes, auto 4wd drive is a no diff locked permanent 4wd and you can leave it on all day long

The better fuel consumption of a Euro3 06 Pathfinder would offset that cost against your thirsty Euro4 07 Navara :thumbright:
What sort of mpg's can the euro3 pf get?

I would expect the difference between the Navara and Pathfinder with the same engine would be negligible. Given what is said on here, a Euro 3 vehicle should see you constantly over 30mpg and around 36mpg on a run.
