Hi all
my rear camera has stopped working
it is not throwing the screen into the "check behind before reversing"
have checked the wire on the dvd and all connected properly.
any help please.

reverse lights all work fine.
every thing else works as it should.
just no picture for camera.

What's the vehicle?

If it's the pre-facelift Navara, isn't there a connection on the board that's supposed to be shorted? Maybe that has come loose?

yes it is a pre face lift.
2006 Navara Aventura
I have checked the wires and all connected

I never had one of the pre-facelift Navaras with DVD player, but afaik, there are two pins inside the DVD unit that need to be shorted for the DVD unit to know that there's a reversing camera present. You've to open the unit to modify this. Have you checked that? If you do a search, you'll find threads explaining where it is.

So without the rear camera not working yesterday I reversed into a post and damaged my rear bumper and 2 small dents in the tailgate. Lets just say not happy.

anyone have any ideas what could be wrong.
all wires connected but not throwing the screen to see rear camera.
thanks

Are you absolutely sure the 2 pins are shorted on the dvd unit?
They sometimes can be hard to get a wire down far enough to make contact with the pins

Dont have to open it, it can be done by shorting 2 pins in the plug in the back of the unit!
just more reliable to open and solder them

yes I have made sure the wire is all the way down and making contact.
I worked when I got home then about half hour later when I went to go out it failed to work.

Sounds like a loose connection somewere
Only thing I can suggest is stick it in reverse with ignition on a wiggle some wires/plugs see if it comes on! then at least you'll know where it's broken.

Hi. Have tried all the wires and connections and no change.
nothing loose or broken. really doing my head in now.
any more help please people.
thanks Paul.

The only way to solve this is to get a multimeter on it.

The camera itself could be goosed.

To confirm is the screen not changing or is it changing to a blank screen?

Mine went blank last year checked everything rang Nissan still under warranty They said disconnect the battery for 5 minutes & try again been working fine ever since

screen not changing

Is it worth considering a new camera and wiring?
Probably not! the screen will change over even if the camera is not connected (just shows a blank screen)
The only thing that can cause the symptoms the op has is the "bridge wire" on the dvd/sat nav unit not making contact or in the wrong pin hole or an electronic failure inside the dvd unit!

Are you absolutely sure the wire is connected properly and in the right hole?

wire in the dvd is defiantly making contact an in the right hole.
going to remove it today and try and solder the dvd inside.
hope fully be able to fingers crossed.
Thanks for all the advice guys.
