If the D40 has an EGR (as I believe it does) can we not blank it off like the D22 and get lots of lovely power with improved fuel economy? :bounce:

440 km's on half tank is about 275 miles which sounds quite good :thumbleft: normally around 245 miles or 392 km's - an improvement4.8GU said:My last tank of fuel too just for interest sake has netted 440 odd km to half way on the gauge so I think economy may be improving slightly even though I have never really got over 10.5l/100km.
no egr butterfly on the D40. no need, the variable turbo does the same job. its just the turbo vanes closeing to keep back pressure up to keep egr flow up.4.8GU said:On a side note with the boost. I have t'd into the boost sensor on the outlet side of the intercooler and it is quite funny to watch the boost climb from 0 to about 5 psi when decelerating. I am guessing it is because of the butterfly closing and building up inside the pipe work.
1 } no harm your engine, but increase respond and powersean84 said:Hi lads, i just want to know a few simple things. 1. will blocking the egr harm my engine? 2. where is the best place to block it [if somebody has a picture to show this that would be great]? thats all cheers. and fuel economy and emissions doesnt bother me as i have my diesel paid for and i can just take the blocking plate out before testing.
No chip of map can stop the air flowing through a bit of pipe :scratch:edk said:Would be interested to know if the EGR can be disabled via a Prochips remap. hmmm.
Exactly. Hence I said 'disabled'. I'm interested because if you block the EGR off an engine management light is thrown up. The 'remap' could help work around this. Not sure you thought that one through warpa2.5TD said:Might stop the valve operating though :?
