Hi folks,
i'm pretty new here and i've noticed a lot of guys mentioning "euro 3, 4 or 5" when referring to their navara. what does this mean? I did a search but didn't find any explanation...

Thanks
Adam

It's the codes used for European emission standards. They keep tightening up on vehicle emissions and the number increases each time they bring in a new standard.

Over here that was when they changed from Euro 4 to Euro 5, the manual version now has a DPF on the Euro5. Perhaps you don't have the same emission regulations as here though and your models may be different.

ok cool, thanks. the main reason I asked, is because I'd like to order an EGR blanking plate and I've noticed that there appears to be some difference between the euro specs. Are there visible cues as to which spec mine might be? Clearly the DPF would be one. Does it just look like an extra silencer?

Ain't there any way to tell from the engine/chassis numbers

Euro 3 and Euro 4 pre 190's are easy to tell as a Euro 3 has silver rocker cover, and Euro 4 has black. The Euro 4 190 is different under the bonnet in various ways to the 169 and 171, the Euro 5 190 apparently also has tell tail signs under the bonnet.

Would make life easier if they were stamped on the door pillar etc

I've got a 2006 euro 3 and a 2008 euro 4, different turbo set up, different egr set up, and as stated, different rocker cover, I'll try get a few pics of both up in the next few days.
