Recommendations to code my Transponder in on my new key?

I'm after a company that will not bleed me dry coding my new key to my Nav :study: . I haven't got the NATS code supplied with my Nav but do pocess an original working key :scratch: . The blip part of the key-fob coded ****-on, no problems there! :thumbright: Just a couple of Locksmiths specialising in tuning your key in have got me by the "jewels" and trying to charge nearly £100 just to cut the new blade and tune the Transponder chip in :pale: :pale:

hi try this
1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds.
2. Then turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.
3. After 2 seconds, the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning lights twice.
4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the Plip.
5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.
6. Release the unlock button.
7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.
8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 Plip keys.
9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.
10. Remove key, and check all Plip keys for operation.

This is for a terrano but you could try it. its in the terrano manual. is it in the d22's?

I knew someone would quote me wrong :lol: As further up my enquiry states that the fob part works fine. It's the key part with the transponder in it I need re-coding. Otherwise, I've got a useless key but a perfect keyless door-opener. Lad @ one key place suggested I cut off the brand new blade, wasting £15.00 :roll: and buy another solid key and code it for £40.00 + vat! :pale:

I went to timsons, the Key cutters. and they cut the key no problem. I have also spoken to Nissan in Newbury and he told me £15 to recode the transponder. Try your local dealer. He might not be that bad.

I think I'm fartin' against the wind on this subject. I tried my local "Stealership" again :roll: n I'm still waiting for them to ring me back AGAIN!! :roll: I haven't got the original NATS code for the key :cry: n the branch @ Newbury were gonna charge me £42.89 to sort it :pale: AND, I'd have to drive down there to do the biz with the key! :shock: They said they need the Nav to "tune" the key in. I can get the blade cut no prob, it's just getting someone to do the biz with the transponder at a price I don't have to wear cast iron undies!! :puker:

We must be speaking to the same guy. I am waiting for them to call me to let me know my seals are in so I can do the shell bearing mod. He told me he could do the NATS just with the key. Ah, :brilsmurf: he will need you to bring the nav in to do the key entry which is a different system and there are are plenty of posts on here for how to do it. Just get the key. Sort out the door entry yourself and tell him you only need the key coded for the nats system. That should be £15.

Unless I'm wrong of course :salute:

All the "Stealerships" I've contacted say I need the 4 digit NATS code which should be with the car. :scratch: If I ain't got that, (which I haven't got! :cry: ), they have to contact Nissan and apply for it. Hence, the extortionate costs!!! :pale:

Hi, changed the battery in my d22 a while back, the b*****d wouldnt start afterwards,got a mate to run it to nissan 30 miles away, he dropped it off at 7:30 pm to the sales team.
Picked it up the next evening, cost around £25 to recode the chip in the 2 keys.

Before he took it to nissan he took it to an independant guy who connected it up to his diagnostic,said he could fix it but might take a while and he was too busy to do it for a few days.
My opinion get on good terms with the right dealership and thy will not be such ripoff merchants.

Main dealers like this are getting harder to find though :(

Ididnt have any codes to give dealer as i bought it 2nd hand and i think its an import as well.

They also done the timing tensioner recall for me as well no charge.

I have got my keys from fleabay. I just haven't had a chance to get back up to the local dealership to get them coded. He did quote me £14 each. Now if I can get some time this Friday.. :bounce:

Went to my local stealership in Newbury with my nice new and shiney keys (courtesy of fleabay). Good news and bad news.
Bad news
was it took ages but that was because the system wouldn't allow more than 2 keys to be programmed, even though it is supposed to allow for 4. So the mechanic took a while to figure that out. Can't blame him for that. He also broke my old key but to be fair it was on its last legs hence me buying 2 new keys.

Good News
He didn't need anything other than the car and charged me the princely sum of £22 pound I think it was. No 4 digit number or anything else. I am well happy with that. :cheers2:
