So I've had my 2015 navara 2 weeks and use it daily for my 70 mile round trip commute. At the same time I want to take it off road for some fun, what are your top 3 recommended mods?

Cheers Lewis

AT tyres and under body protection. Just those will let you have some fun off road with a little peace of mind.

What you go for next will depend on what you want to do with it from there on :)

For off road driving as above, but for general mods which will increase performance on and off road and also aid fuel economy, I recommend the below:-

1. DTE Tuning Box
2. EGR Blank
3. Replace Paper Panel Filter.

The above mods complement each other very well and with an ECU reset will transform your truck and give surprising mpg gains :thumbright:

All the suggestions of blanking an EGR on a 2 week old vehicle. Is there any implications with warranty? i'm in a similar situation and don't want to remove it every time it goes in for a service or warranty work. Same could be said for the air filter and DTE box. Either a PITA to remove every time, or a big risk to your warrant.

I have a 50 mile daily commute and At tyres are no issues and a very worthy upgrade.

Fair comment well made, I wouldn't recommend tipping up to your 1st service with that lot strapped on, certain to cause a spot of bother! However I ran all three mods from day one, the EGR blank is nigh on impossible to see unless you go looking for it, the DTE Box is a twenty minute job tops and a panel filter is less than two mins to change. On the first 18000 mile service I removed everything when the truck went in for its 1st service just to be safe, took me probably half hour, second time I left the EGR blank in situ and wasn't noticed.

For folk who aren't fussed or consider small tasks like this a PITA to remove, stick with stock, for those who have a basic understanding of mechanics and enjoy extracting the full potential of their vehicle with some minor mods then it's a no brainer, particularly the EGR blank which prevents the motor injesting its own *****, the half hour spent fettling and rattling a few spanners is well worth the gains, all IMHO of course :thumbleft:

I've considered above in the past, and I know the chance is remote, but what if you breakdown on the road and need to get towed to a garage and so on, or you simply forget. Could easily land you with a four figure repair bill.

up to the individual though. there no right or wrong

Indeed, again fair comment well made, something I had also considered during my warranty period and used to carry a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 10mm and 12mm socket under the rear seats, the EGR blank can be whipped out in a very short space of time, it's a doddle, a panel filter could be changed by my mum blindfolded :pirate: and a DTE Box is a very straightforward exercise also, but it's up to the individual and their ability I suppose, maybe I am making light of it all due to being used to messing about under cars for longer than I care to mention :really

Personally, i would suggest off roading a brand new motor is unwise. The risk of panel damage and scratched paint work is high, worse than that any silty water in puddles will get into bearings, axle oil and brakes.
I always used to budget ÂŁ250 per outing to replace things like damaged alternators and axle oil.

The navara being expensive to repair I would double that figure.

Import the 4litre v6 engine from frontier....then add the dual exit exhaust.

Ahh well that's something totally different, scrap the above, my advice is to stick with stock or book your good lady on a crash course in basic vehicle maintenance at your local college and nip down to your nearest Halfords and buy a dodgy Halfords special socket set for her Christmas present :thumbleft:

I'll just get me coat :eekout
