Hi magwa1962

TBH I don't remember seeing anyone on this site carrying out this replacement as yet :(

If you haven't already downloaded the D22 workshop manual from this site then do and have a good 'dig' around it to find the answers :thumbleft:

Good luck mate and try to do a 'How to' and post it for others if poss :salute:

From replacing my front discs I would assume you would remove Caliper/Disc/Drive Shaft.
Jack up under the lower arm and 'crack' the top joint and lever it away (disconecting the shock first) then 'crack' the lower joint.
Leaving the jack under the arm keeping the torsion bar under tension.
The ball joint must be riveted to the arm or screwed into a thread
Just some thoughts on how it must be configured not a 'how to'

Let us know :thumbright:

Ouch! Diggerman :(

Whole new arm, that will be costly

As the Aussie guys on this site do loads more mileage than us maybe they have an alternative remedy to this replacement :?:

Jimmy, are you sure yours are fooked?

Hi, was at the breakers the other day getting a spare tyre and mentioned the balljoints, had a look at the lower arms on an 03 d22 and an older model and they are the same so I would assume ÂŁ20 quid should sort your parts cost :partycheer:

I have replaced the lower ball joints many times.

There is no need to buy the whole arm.

As usual with questions of how easy it is, it really depends on your skills. They are not the easyet thing I have done but I can do it and I am no mechanic. I do have access to a ramp though. They are attached to the arm by a big nut, the ball joint is threaded and the threads will have been bent out on to the nut so need unbent.

The main thing to remember is the lower arm us un]der tension from the torsion bar so make sure it is held up by an axel stand.
