When I purchased the truck back in Feb it needed a new rear bumper so garage put on an aftermarket one which started to rust within no time, they got a replacement & had no further issues.

Fri past (the 13th) I was rear ended by a Hilux, new rear bumper required.

The guilty party have no issue in paying for their lack of concentration at ÂŁ577 + VAT from Nissan however I am considering an aftermarket stainless one at a 1/3 of the price.

Any views, pointers, horror stories are welcome

That's cheap, i had a new bumper a few weeks ago, it was over ÂŁ1000, are you sure it's a genuine one?

Also, every after market bumper for a D40 i've ever seen are inferior quality, even the stainless ones.
The problem with the cheap ones is the way they mount, a genuine one has a big heavy and very strong mounting frame that bolts to the chassis, the cheap ones just have a couple of flimsy brackets.

So in the even of somebody driving into the back of you with a cheap one is, the truck will take a lot more damage, with the genuine bumper, the frame takes a lot of the impact.

I personally would get the real deal

This had crossed my evil mind, they might pay Nissan direct tho so they can claim back the VAT

If they do pay cash why not get a genuine used one for around ÂŁ100
