Hey fellas, just a few thoughts on today's test drive of the new NAV.
First up and getting it out of the way at the start - I WANT ONE !! (Shut it Steve) :laugh2:

Please bare in mind I haven't driven a D40 for 3/4 years, I'm not a car reviewer and didn't have long with the vehicle.

First impressions. At tick over and tootling about town the engine was very quiet, louder under load obviously but was generally very impressed. A little slow off the mark I thought, compared to my Pathy (both auto) but impressed with the power, 40-80 mph was very good. Plenty of oommpp, pressed on very well. The ride was very good, felt very smooth and comparable to the Pathy (with what I assume is now similar suspension set ups but I'm no expert on that stuff) Just know it was nice. Interior was very nice, a few little niggles here which will mention later, but very nice and didn't put me off. Nice gadgets if you can justify the extra dosh. (Didn't sit in the back, why would I, LOL). Liked the view of the bonnet and wing mirror view, new styling lines and looked totally different to D40. Bump on tailgate lip isn't too bad. Daytime running lights look great. Screen is nice, totally different style to Tekna connect system but didn't have time for a proper look at that. Didn't sit in passenger seat (manual controls).
A few pics .......

Rear view camara, split screen, right is normal reverse view and left is a snapshot of all four before you start.

And a press of a button left changes to live view of near side

And the couple of niggles. Headroom less than Pathy (I'm 6-1) but not a problem (just), no usb in center chubby box between seats, it's now by/in a little tray in front of gear stick (I leave iPod in vehicle and so won't be hidden away), seat not as comfortable as it looks and the steering wheel (rake/movement) doesn't go high enough for me to see top of dials (might be my height or smaller steering wheel). I'm sure if I had more time I could have got the seat set up properly so these issues are sorted ?

All in all, I'm hoping to order Monday (quoted March 1st for delivery).

Nice write up.

I can't help wondering that the list price of the top model at ÂŁ31k seems high compared to the Ranger top model at ÂŁ27k. I think the ranger looks nicer (although i guess not as technically advanced)

Cheers guys, no idea what I'm on about really, just my thoughts.

Yes mate, it had a sunroof, standard Tekna + sunroof, I'm told you have more headroom without sunroof, which I'm going for.

Don't like to talk money but have been quoted in region of ÂŁ28,800 ( Tekna, Cayman blue). Diff and sunroof are extra and anything ya want for rear tub is more.

Well i have also seen once in the flesh and for me its also a big no! But hey, it might still grow on us who don't like it and anyway i think Nissan did a good job going into the future making the vehicle more fuel efficient, lower cd,....

Its just like the bmw M5. Many people see the old one as the king even if the new one is better in every way. Who knows, maybe in a few years we'll all have this one or the by then facelifted np300?

For now tho, enjoying the V6 :partycheer:

Tucker just out of curiosity did the dash display the outside temp?

Down in the southern hemisphere ours don't and I have been told it was a programing error that would be rectified shortly so was wondering if your models have the fix or not.

In all honesty mate, I don't remember. I'm in again beginning of the week so I'll have a look.

Never been keen on the NP300 until these photos. Maybe its the angles or maybe its just growing on me?
Must be the later, same for me. At first I thought it's just becoming more like all the others, slowely with each generation blending in more and more until all the euro-pickups look the same. But over time it became better.
Still a few things i don't like compared to the old one: why did they put the screen in the middle so low? I really like the high position of it in my nav, not having to look down and away from the street to see it. And i'd like to know if the designer that thought "hey, let's put some spoiler-wing-lip-thingy on the back, that'll sure look nice, especially with a hard top on!" And that huge empty sretch of plastic on the passenger side where the old one had the upper glovebox.

Apart from that it really grew on me. But if it's exterior looks, at least in my books nothing beats the new ranger, espacially the front.

Sometimes i wish mine wouldn't display the outside temp. Apart from me beeing able to tell "hot" and "cold" apart, the flashing at certain temperatures sometimes really gets on my nerves. Right now i get in the truck and the temp at 3° ist constantly flashing. Another day at 2° it won't. Then next week it'll flash the whole day at -1°. And the day after it won't flash at all at -3°. I have not found out when it starts to flash and why it won't stop...

It should start flashing at 3 deg and then stop again at -3. Once it's stopped at -3 as it warms up it should not flash again until it reaches 4 and then drops below 3 again unless you turn the key off at which time it resets it's thinking.

Not sure if it's just the photos, or if it's for pedestrian safety, but i really don't like the lines on the bonnet :(

Hm, sounds reasonible. But it's still pretty anoying to watch at that constant flashing. All other cars i drove either tell you once when you start them "hey, it's cold, might be slippery" or just simply shut up bei either having a temp-display and assume you are intelligent enough to read it on your own and make decissions or don't have a temperature reading at all :)

Took a test drive yesterday in a Tekna auto with sunroof, I'm a Good 6" 2 and the head roon is not an issue, doesn't seem as quite as quick as my old Nav but when I looked down I was going 80 where I thought I was doing 60, very smooth gear box, not as much storage as the old one but very modern inside.
Got back to the garage and ordered a silver Tekna auto with sunroof for March delivery, overall impressed.

Bed floor lashing rails have gone, due to customer demand so I was told. Outside temp has also gone, not sure why, the rear fold down cup holders have gone too, my kids love'd them !!!
Digital speedo is brill, love that !!! Never found the box of tricks between the two dials on my previous test drive, all the mpg figures, digi speedo etc come up on that screen, not the central sat nav screen.

Test drove a manual earlier, loved it, the seat was much more comphy and the headroom was fine so as I thought, it's all in the seat set up.

The cash has been splashed !!!

Tekna, Cayman blue with mats, spray on tub liner, tow bar, roll cover, bed styling bars, front styling bar and tailgate water defence kit (what ever the **** that is :-D).

Roll on March 14 :rockon:rockon
