Just been quoted £470 over the phone by one company :jawdrop

So, put the phone down and went elsewhere - been quoted a more realistic sounding £150. Having it done next Thursday. It's gonna look fab!

I have also just painted my grill and back bumper satin black, which in my opinion looks the biz. I did it myself and didn't very long to do.

This is a photoshopped version of what it will look like, but I have some 17" black steel modulars, with BFG AT KO2's on at the moment. Will get the original 18" rims sprayed up and put back on for summer.

Yes, wrapped, not dipped - will post actual photo's when it's done

Ok so cheesed right off now!!! Bought a grill from Ebay that was meant to be from a 2012 D40 ( same as mine) paid to have it painted, just gone to fit it to the truck and yup you guessed it, DOESN'T FIT!!!! *** looks the same but the back is ever so slightly different, so guess its from an older D40 :-( Anyone need a grill???
So just away to take my own one to get painted now!!!!

You need to pop out the mirror glass, be careful as I broke the drivers side and it cost me £52 to replace! If you push the mirror in at the top you can get a thin wooden spatula (from the kitchen) in from the bottom, and simply prise the mirror away from its bracket, but be gentle. Its then a case of removing a few torx screws and it exposes the chrome cover clips which you simply pop out, there is a torx screw underneath the mirror that I had to remove, which can only get access to if you fold the mirror flat (I have the electric mirrors, but you would simple fold the mirrors flat and look underneath for the screw). You can then rebuild the mirror and once the chrome sections have been painted you can pop them off without dismantling anything. When you have the mirror off its worth replacing the 2 x halogen bulbs that are in the bottom of the mirror (my tekna 2012 has them) I replaced them with nice LEDS and its a much nicer light that comes from them now.
Its a simple job that you just need to be careful with.

Looking good.
I have standard 17" alloys which are now gloss black.
Just bought a new grill to black out, does anyone know if you can actually split the chrome from the black part on the grill? (2012 model) I have a brand new one & its looks fixed? Thought it would be easier to spray/wrap etc.
Looking at doing my rear bumper & mirrors too.

Thanks.

Yes you can split the chrome section off but it's held in place by a multitude of one time fasteners that you have to be very careful not to brake. Having done it I think it could be as easy to mask it and spray. If you're painting it rather than wrapping it makes sure you rub the chrome down really well or the paint just flakes off.

Apologies for late reply, my setup doesn't advise me when someone replies on a post??

Yeah, I had a closer look and understand what you mean. Masking for sure, the clips are very small and seem brittle as glass.

I painted my old Nav's grill, yes; I keyed up the chrome first then put 2 coats of etch primer on it - that stuff never comes off! Nor your lungs - correct particle mask always with etch primers.

Cheers.
