As ford has now lost the patent to this extra do you think Nissan would ever consider a retro fit system for a lot of its motors including ours? Wouldn't it be a blessing if they did

It would be a blessing but nissan will never make anything retro fit to older model's
The only reason they would develop a heated windscreen is to add features to vehicles there currently marketing in attempt to increase sales, and since this year there ending the uk D40 it's not worth the time and effort!
That sort of thing might come available through a 3rd party company though.
That said I wouldn't be surprised if the new np300 appered with it!

I had the Ford heated quick clear windscreen on three of the Fords had as company cars and to be honest I didn't like it, not because it didn't work as it did brilliantly it was due to long distance driving I found the element in the glass screen very distracting. You were constantly trying to focus through the wavey lines of the element and it became very much a strain on my eyesight. I don't know if that was just me or if its an age thing?

The one on my wife's mini is much better than the Ford one. Clearly she is very smug in the morning while I am scraping. I had the last laugh when she got to the junction at the end of the road an realised the side windows were too iced up to see out of.

I had it on a Range Rover Sport and found it a little distracting at first but for the most part didn't really notice it, unless it happened to catch my eye and then it took a while to "unnotice" it again.

Funny, I never found the element distracting when sunny, only in daylight fog and snow.

I think some roadcraft training needs to be done, look as far as you can while driving, not immediately in front of you :)

One more thing, The new Nav thats coming has heated screen, this topic was done to death last year if my memory serves me correctly.

(just ordered a heated screen for my defender)

I got one for my Supra track car from a London based company so I'm sure a vehicle as popular as the Navara would make a lot of financial sense to whoever they employed to produce the Supra screens.

How much did that cost?

One day hopefully all manufacturers will see sense amd fit parking heaters as standard. My thermotop C is probably the best mod i've done to the truck, 6.30 every morning i come out to a warm truck with perfectly clear windows. Looses its edge when i get to work and have to go out in the work Navara though, which had an inch of ice on the windscreen...
