Hi all,
Im Ketch, and I live near edinburgh in bonny scotland have to say im off to a bad start already as I dont even have a navara yet. I currently drive an Evo 6. it has got 4WD tho so im getting there! pmsl

I stumbled accross the site while doing a bit research on the navara so hopefully i will get some good info out you guys before and after I buy.

Im looking to buy one quite soon but just not sure wheather to get the navara or pathfinder or even if either is the car/truck for me.

Im looking to buy this mainly for towing the car and pretty much anything else i can hitch on to it, and also the odd run down south for motorsport events.

looking forward to talking to you guys an finding out the pros an cons of owning a navara.

cheers

ketch

Ay welcome!

I guess it depends what you want/need. The biggest adavntage of the navara will be the tax benefit which is huge when you have your own company and still big when your are an employee and just tiny when it is just a private car.

Now for motorsport it depends on what you do and what your trailer is like. A friend of mine does Porsche racing and has a mountain top on the back of the navara onto which he straps spare wheels etc. It all depends on what you do and what size equipment you need to carry.

thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I wont be getting anything back when i buy one as its just a private buy unfortunately.

Towing wise its a twin axle tilting flat bed (1 ton empty) with usually the evo on the trailer. so approx 2.5ton all in by the time i stick fuel and tools in aswell. how well do they pull with a weight on the back? i towed with a disco once and it was really bad. wasnt keen on pulling away as it seemed to be too highly geared does the navara have the same issue?

one thing I did hear was the turning circle is really bad. do any you guys have any problems with that?

i could ask quesations all day long lol

As for towing my twin axle trailer is 500kg empty and the fish transporter is 1500kg when fully loaded so 2 ton all in,plus 4 blokes sometimes and never had any problems regarding gearing. As for turning circle turns a damn sight tighter than the l200s

I tow a boat on a 25fy trailer. Weighs about 2.2 tonne and the navara has no problems. If anything it wants to go too fast. Turning circle is **** but irrelevant when towing.

Hi and welcome to the site.

I, don`t tow a digger at 3+tons on 1+ton trailer with a rock hammer and half a dozen buckets with my old d22 with only 133bhp on the road (really)

So you should be alright with a 170bhp d40 with a trailer loaded at 2.5 ton :thumbleft:
