In the pic it looks like that boat is running on a unbraked trailer....i cant see ant brake cables or is it just me
hehe ... it has brakes, disc brakes 8)
Welcome! Nice to see more boaters on this forum, that (and the tax breaks) is why I have my Navara as well. Here is a picture of my rig, also with a 5.7V8 (Volvo Penta). I'm normally to be found in Poole and the Solent...

PS. The trailer does look US spec to me  is that correct?

I thought hydraulic brakes on a trailer were illegal?? the only trailer ive ever seen with discs had a cable linked from the ram to a makeshift caliper witch then pushed a pad on to a disc

There are lots and lots of US trailers in the UK, imho technically a lot are in better condition and quality but unfortunately not always fully road legal if the police decide to act....Any day in Poole at Cobbs Quay and you'll see lots of interesting looking trailers....Like the F250 with a 6 wheel trailer the other day :D

Nice boat the Malibu, and looks good with the Navara....Have you got through the hull exhaust or the quieter underwater variety?

That will all stop when they start the trailer MOT in my opinion this will be a good thing as theres some seriosuly dangerous trailers out there that look like they were built in the dark  i cant see how discs would stop the trailer all that quick? are they braked on all 4 wheels? and does the hitch have a over run and break away cable facility fitted? just curious as to how there made :)

The underwater variety, very quiet ... although we wouldn't be able to hear it anyway over the music!

It's only 18 months old, and yes, braked on all 4 wheels with overrun, break away cable & chains (all factory fitted) ... stops great. The only long distance tow we have done is when we picked it up from Loch Lomond .... now it only gets towed from a hard standing to the slipway ... aprrox 1/2 mile.
:)

I would think if you are backing the trailer into the sea to dump the boat the disc brakes would recover better than the drums, and be less prone to seizing

Dixon bate sell cable operated disc brake kits for trailers so they cant be illegal but they only seem to be available for boat trailers...probably for the reasons mowerman mentioned above.

I would tend to agree with Mowerman, however if you treat the drum brakes (sealed!) and hubs correctly on a boat trailer and give them at least 45 minutes to cool down before you put them in the water they are just fine...Unfortunately not many can wait that long...And neither could we hence I got our on a drystack so I don't have to launch it all the time...

PS. Jodymac, I love the silent (like my Larson) big V8s....Always a nice surprise when you open up and actually leave a lot of the others standing...

So how do you find the Navara with towing? It's great isn't it? I've got a front towbar attached as well which helps me with closer quarter manouvering. Like the S-bend on our driveway....

Yep, is great ... much better than the Freelander with the low ratio box :D and being a girlie .... I love the colour too!
