Evening All
Thought I'd drop an update on the truck as had a 280 mile round trip to the NEC yesterday and the first long run.
As I backed out the drive yesterday morning, first mod to be done will be an aux reverse lamp as rubbish, took me three attempts and sure I woke the dog and the wife up!
I was on A roads for the first 45 minutes and yes, it seems comfortable ride. Getting use to the gear box and my first impressions that they are quite wide apart seems to now not be an issue, you get use to anything quick enough.
I did scare myself on the first decent bend as suddenly saw I was doing about 60 and found the truck took an age to get round and thought it seemed a bit of a fight to get the back round, same bend in an X5 is simple.
Got stuck behind a milk tanker and a lorry on a good straight so went to over take and ..... nothing happened...:eyeball. then slowly started to go pass. Although a good straight just managed the tanker, so although gets up to cruising speed nicely and without stress, doesn't have the kick of the X5 (durgghhh, really?) or from memory my old D40. Think we may investigate a remap.
Into Bristol and again, thought it was really easy to drive in traffic, roundabouts and very comfy and car like.
Hit the motorway and stayed a steady 75-80. Didn't notice the wind noise until I searched for it, and yes a little but not really worth mentioning especially with the radio on.
Sat nav was good and each turn was highlighted on the dashboard between the rpm and mph. Have set the screen to mph which is a lot easier to look at than the dial which is on the right, normally the left isn't it?
Made a few phone calls and crystal without echo or feedback. Still love the keyless entry as had keys in my bag when I left the house and only found them this morning when delved in to said bag again.
Pretty much the same on the way home, used the cruise and set it to 82, sat very happily and easy to use on the steering wheel.
Comfort wise, yes very nice and no aches and pains, used the lumber support and actually found I was sitting with back against the seat rather than my normal slouching.
The trip read 30.2 for that journey and 32 for the tank (still trying to work out which trip is what) and tank reads 355 and 8ish to go, so looking at a 430 mile tank, but will fill up and calculate manually when I need to. (This is better than the X5 where it read religiously 27.9 mpg as an average per tank) and I didn't think I missed any speed, only on the overtake early on. It stayed with the M5 traffic no problem and felt like there was more to offer. 80mph sat on 3,000 revs, so should be more in there comfortably.
Oh yes, wipers! God I miss the arutowipers, but I am still here to write the tail so isn't as life threatening as first thought.
All in all, comfy ride, missed the punch but its a truck standing big and tall and proud so for me - a suit in a ute, think it will fit the bill.
I think it would be worthwhile for someone to write a review for those that actually use it as a working truck, then would be an all around review. Best to all.

MPG
Filled up today and manual calculation was 29.88 mpg which i thought from a new tight engine wasn't bad, hopefully loosen up and get up to mid 30's would be nice, still better than the beemer.

Wow the forum has changed alot since I was here last (I know that reads badly).

I'm just at the point of changing my 2nd D40 Aventura/Tekna Manual, I don't do many miles (6,800 on this one), what spec model do you have? I'm looking at an NP300 Auto Tekna Savannah Yellow however I have a concern over the flaired outer bonnet lines - how do you find corner vision from behind the wheel? I sat in one at the weekend however as commercial sales don't work weekends I didn't get to drive, if I get chance I'll pop down tomorrow.

Also 360 vision/protection, is this marketing drivel or are there more than 1 camera view?

Any other issues apart from the wipers?, my Aventura had an electric sunroof and two electric seats, when I got the Tekna I was down to just one electric seat.

I don't want a truck that is any slower than my 190 Tekna.

Hi mate. Few pics of camera view here ...

I really like the look of the bonnet flares but wether it makes vision worse, not sure.

Top of the bonnet flare looks good from behind the wheel, but you are missing the front foot of the truck, which..... Using the surround camera doesn't make much difference as you just look at the camera to see where the nose is. The camera is good and does give all round view, would be a nightmare in Sainsburys without one!
Other annoyances are outside temp, there isn't one, front passenger seat manual and is either forward or back, no height. The usual lack of cup holders, all IMO.
However, I'm 800 miles on now and very easy drive, comfortable, decent mpg, would I buy again..... Yes.

Head lights, day running lights look nice, when lights are on, these go off. Good brightness from head lights but dip is 2-3 yards to short for me but full beam a winner. Reverse light **** so fixing an aux at the weekend.

Thanks for the answers, ordered today in Savannah for early to mid May delivery. Got a great deal and a great trade in value for the D40, 87% of original value after 10 months (v low millage though). Did consider a Wildtrak and also an L200, the L200 mainly because of the on road tarmac 4x4 ability up to 62 mph for when the weather is **** but not **** enough for Navara 4 Hi. The Ranger was too "in your face" and dispite visiting Mitsubishi, talking + hot chocolate and leaving my card no one ever came back to me with final figures.

I do fancy the 18" grey alloy upgrades but at ÂŁ932 + VAT as a dealer option they are a tad steep, I hoped I'd be able to order as a factory fit. However on the way home it got me thinking - If they are a dealer fit would I get the 4 black NP300 alloys with no tyres ie end up with 8 alloys? If so do you recon the new NP300 alloys would fit a D40? (as the NP300 would be too recent for anyone to be needing new rims). If so ÂŁ400 for the old alloys would make the new ones ÂŁ500 which seems a much easier tablet to swallow.

NP300 alloys do fit the D40, I asked because I wanted to know the other way round to check me 22's fit on the new one, so the main dealer stuck a D40 wheel on their NP300 demo to check for me - same fitment.

Thanks for the info, half an hour ago I sent a quick email to the dealer asking the question. Somerset is a long way from Yorkshire so if the forum does end up with 2 sets on sale hopefully we won't be competing for the same buyers.

The 22's will look well because as standard there is alot of gap in the arches.

Where have all the smilies & emoticons gone when typing a post???

No worries, my originals will go in the shed for when I sell the truck so won't be on sale :cheers2:

Smilies etc should be on the right ..................>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ooops after reading the longer review it looks like my chosen colour is less than popular, and maybe the looks split the pack too, at least it will be the only one that colour in Morrisons car park on the shopping run. I remember when the E60 5 series set the angular BMW look all those years ago now, yet the angular look still can be seen in much of the range today.

Anyway it looks good pulling down a factory though https://youtu.be/i0-jw2seMBg , sorry if the video has already done the rounds.
