Has anyone done an engine conversion to a Nav in recent history?
I know someone did a turbo V6 in a D21, but as the D21 came with that motor minus turbo, i don't think it counts.

What i want to do is fit a V8 into the D21.
I have a motor to go in, a Holden 253 Blue motor. Its a 4.2L carbied OHV V8, with an iron block and iron heads.
It needs a freshen up, but i'll do it before if i decide to fit the thing.

I think i would fit the motor with a Gas research dedicated LPG system, as i wouldn't have to comply with any emissions standards, which helps with rego and engineering.
I suppose the question is , are the diffs and gearbox going to take the abuse of a 150kw, 420nm V8? The transfere case should be fine, as its the same as a GQ Patrol, minus the handbrake assembally, and i have seen those with 383ci stroker chevs attached. With the twin piston front brakes going on, and a rear disk conversion, i shouldn't have any issue with engineering, but i'd like to know if the drive line will cope.

Mate, you may want to share in clubfrontier since europe version I believe come with diesel engine not petrol (D40 not sure D21).
US version come with petrol engine.
Australia is unique, come with both engine

well. Seems this plan has ended before it begun.
There would be aproxx $8000 in conversion costs, and the V8 i want is too old for the regulations.
PLan B is a 3.8L Holden Commodore V6 with a 4 speed auto. Kits are readily avalible, and i can use any version of this motor. Power anywhere from 125kw, to 152kw in natmo form, and 165kw to 171kw in supercharged form.
The Supercharged version would make it a hell of a ride.... And a quick pully swap to up the boost to 10 pound makes an easy 200kw.
I hope these diffs are strong....

the US Titan 5.6 is a bolt and plug in swap for a D40 once you get everything from the same donor truck, just need the Key reprogrammed to the new ECU.

I would love to get my paws on the Nissan/Renault 3.0L V6 TDI to drop in a D40...easier to get 700nm out of that than the 2.5. Who knows if the bellhousing will work etc though.
