So I brought my Navara to Nissan for the alloy wheels recall this morning and I just had a call to say that the chassis is completely corroded with holes big enough to put your hand through,

I'm absolutely fuming to say the least but unfortunately there is nothing I can do, has anyone ever had any experience with something like this

So sorry to here this, it is becoming quite an issue with the d40.

Have a read of this and it would be appreciated if you were to contact Billcar as per the first post. It may also be worth raising a claim with Nissan as well. http://www.nissan-navara.net/20-navara-chat/31214-chassis-rust.html

Hopefully yours can be saved, good luck

If you bought it within the last 6 months then it is the sellers responsibility as they have sold an 'unroadworthy' vehicle which is a criminal offense.
If sold by a private seller then the police are responsibly for enforcement.
If sold by a trader then it is a Trading Standards responsibility for enforcement.
If you can get someone to say it would have been like it when you bought it, then so much the better.

Get your money back from the seller or report them.

Or, if you want, get your money back and then report them.

I had it a week on Saturday gone and already I had a guy on a motorbike crash into me and now this, I was foolish enough to buy it privately up in Belfast and I fear I'll never be able to track the guy down and he was a foreign guy that's probably gone home and all at this stage, is this the end of the road for my Navara or is there anything at all that can be done to save it,

Nissan emailed me the pics of the damage I'll post them up here shortly

Gutted for you mate, although I'm no expert, I think there's been worse pics on this site with a happy ending. Guessing it boils down to your will and the maths. Hope Rich can sort you out and it is a good result for you.
All the best.
Dave

As for the seller. Hope something vital in his life rots:twisted::twisted::drunkensmile

I am sorry but with damage like that how can that be plated with any certainty it will be like painting the fourth road bridge a never ending job that will eventually become one patch.

I was on that Facebook page and was speaking to the founder Richy, he has designed plates that he used to strengthen his chassis after it snapped but I don't think they would even get my Nav through the test over here in Ireland,

I have completely lost the love for the truck now and just want rid of it as quickly as possible but I don't know how

Sorry to hear this Marco, I think its possible a good welder could fix that. I think someone is advertising on Donedeal who repairs the navara chassis. Mine is bad too, I spoke to a dealer, he said repair it and send it to auction, no comeback as sold as seen.

That's a **** deal
Sounds like the previous has become aware of it and got rid sharpish
You will need to patch it up otherwise if you sell it on you could get comebacks or if you tell the buyer tell give you next to nowt for it
Do they always go in the same area?

Its ok fixing it but it will only ever be a temporary fix as once the corrosion is inside the chassis rails it can spread all over.
Maybe there's an opportunity for somebody as when a similar thing happened with defenders several companies started up replacing the whole ladder frame usually with a galvanised one. Would not be a complicated swap on a navara with the right gear

Maybe a happy ending in this case would be to get the plating done, rust treatment and out for a fair price, so as Marco doesn't loose all his investment.:dunno

Sorry to hear about this Marco, if it's an consolation I don't think it looks too bad and if the photos you've posted show the full extent of it then I believe it can be saved, unfortunately just looking at it is never going to tell the full story, and even getting the tub off and going at it with an angle grinder and wire brush is still only telling half the tale as I believe the problem is working it's way through the chassis from the inside out.

I've already stripped mine, cut out some rot and plated it in places.

There are a few places advertising this type of repair so it might be worth making a phone call or two, or try some local engineering firms that also might do this sort of thing.

This guy was also advertising chassis repairs at one stage.
