Hi all,

Can some help ID my Pathfinder engine variant (euro 4 or 5?) from this picture.. She's a September 2010 registered tekna.

Also, I'm going to be ordering an egr blank and would like the shape confirmed as I see there's a few different shapes and wouldn't want to order the wrong one. I also see the hot pipe is heavily reinforced so would I actually benefit from a metal version or not?

Cheers for any help

by the angle of the feed to the intercooler, and the fact its a Tekna, 2010 that's definitely a Euro 5. (190hp)

your egr blank should be oval and symmetrical with two holes for the mounting screws. Euro 4/5 are normally both the same.

I'm a bit of hot pipe sceptic, so someone else could confirm. I cant see how a compressor producing this volume of compressed air would benefit from a few cubic millimetres worth of reduction in expansion. if theres a gain I would imagine it would be a minimal gain in throttle response, and no power obviously.

Cheers for the quick response..

Do you mean this shape EGR?

I've got dreadful throttle response at idle, makes pulling away in 1st a real chore, so any improvement in throttle response would be greatly welcomed, hence the question about the hot pipe.

yup. that looks like the one.

best not try and mask issues, they are normally quite lively these engines, and I've never had any issues rattling away from lights etc

if you look at the stickies at the top of the technical sections, you should run through all the resets and minor maintenance. If none of that works, then look at what's causing it. EGR blank is a good step to take first though.

What MPG are getting, does it smoke at all. I found a Bluetooth dongle and the torque app great for diagnostics and code reading. the dongle is a couple of pounds off ebay.

Yeah, I remember back to my 05 plate a few years ago and I was sure they weren't sluggish off the lights.. It just seems to struggle when pulling away, up to 1500rpm then pulls away like normal. I have to stand on the throttle more than expected, to build the revs up, or it just bogs down and pulls away like I'm giving it no throttle at all.,

That's what I'm experience as well. When it's possible I start reving up a little early but sometimes it's very hard to do without the e-brake on a hill.

Yeah, somethings definitely not quite right, so I'm going to investigate further... Possibly a filter problem or something else minor as the truck performs perfectly at all other times..

All of the filters on mine are changed 20k km ago and never had any improvement. So I don't think it has anything to do with filters. I have a 171hp version and I'm starting to think that's where the problem is. A friend of mine has a pathy with the 191hp version under the bonnet and he doesn't complain about this. Could that be the problem? I really don't know.

Firstly, have a read through this http://www.nissan-navara.net/27-tec...7-technical-assistance-d40/30629-how-investigate-fix-engine-running-issues.html
It does sound like a lack of boost at lower rpms, if you get a bluetooth obd adaptor and the torque app for your phone you will be able to see what is happening.
