Haha! guys, you crack me up, all keen for a new model to come out, then decide you won't touch it for at least a year after launch!
The only reason i wouldnt by one from the get go...is i would wait till they had been out for a bit ...so they got a bit cheaper
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, and in all seriousness, it is better to get all the teething probs out of the way before taking a chance.

The thing is Andy do we really need a 3.0 ?? my experience with 3.0 is their allways more Jucy !
see the difference in a 2.5 hilux to a 3.0 ...i have drove the two over a few days one time and the 3.0 i couldnt keep it in fuel

Change the clutch, turbo and intercooler and 330 BHP can be had from what we have now if you have a grand to spend plus the upgrades :salute:

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

I'd be concerned though if it was the same 2.5 but a Nissan tuned version...I'd rather have the current block and tune it my own (well with DTE's help ofcourse) way....

Depending on how it looks, what ICE upgrades (full phone and music integration of my iPhone please) they do I might change early...I mean I'll have done about 40k by then in my 1.5 year old Navara....Now if they bring in a 6 cylinder version I'll put down the deposit right now....

More cubic inches doesn't have to mean worse fuel economy at all....It would be good if they did an equivalent of a bluemotion/blueefficience/eco dynamics and whatever marketeers come up with to provide a fuel efficient version...

You are taking my comments out of context. I made them in the context of using the same 2.5DCI 4POT. The M3 engine is not just an remapped version of a 325, it is a very different engine all together....

But then there is of-course Alpina, so if your argument stacked up how does that work then? They do make it 'better'.....
JP don't worry you haven't hurt my feeling lol
But i think you missing my point ...Like i said i got no problem with the tuning boxes my self if that whats floats your boat...but to say that its better getting your power via that way rather from a factory perspective is just silly IMO ! IMO !
Does that make sense ??
Yes absolutely makes sense :thumbleft: However I don't agree, I prefer Alpina to M3 for example...And Brabus to AMG  I think the Manufacturer has to play it safer than necessary such that the vehicle performs under all conditions...And we are quite mild here...To be honest if the 4pot were to be fully new, and developed to produce that speed, of course I would prefer that...But I doubt they'll develop a new 2.5dci when the current one is so good...All they have to do is put a factory map on it and sell it again together with a price increase...I would feel cheated then...

But as the details are not known it is all speculation anyway...
I love BMWs Jp and theres something about owning an MPOWER car :cheers2:
Back in 1992 I had a new e30 m3 (the original left hand drive car) to this day believe that thats the best car i have ever owned 8)
As for the tuning boxes JP ...well i am an old fuddy duddy ...so forgive me if they dont make me Jiz in my pants

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

I doubt they will produce a "new" engine untile they produce a "new" truck, the D22 was around for 8 years with 1 major facelift before it got replaced. The D40 has now been out 4 years and this is the major facelift version so maybe it will replaced in 4 years time?Personly i think that more power from standard is a win win situation because if you have more you can get more.Im not sure if they will introduce a 3.0 to there lineup or not as some other manafacturers have two 2.5 and a top of the ranger 3.0 but our 2.5 pisses all over there 3.0s so why bother?but as jp said this is all speculation as know1 knows for sure

Whilst the theory of if you start with more you get more is there...But isn't there a limit as too what you can do to an engine....

Then again I wonder whether Andy still runs the remap and an DTE

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

just a thought, but many owners would be more than happy with the current performance, so manufacturers have a fine balancing act to do trying to get the power and performance just right to suit the needs of the majority.
This is probably why mercedes do the vito van with several different engine powers, all using the same engine lump. Maybe Nissan need to do different power options on the Navara?

Yeah Id go with that. I know a few manufacturers who use the same engine in different states of tune. Lower power being better on tax and mpg.

Im the other end of the scale wanting a 250+ BHP V6 DCi 8)

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

After reading through all these posts there really is very little point in speculating here, with such minimal details we cant even hazard 'educated' guesses here. If i were to have one of these 'educated' guesses it could be that the power is a Nissan remapped version that will be for sale in Europe and the USA.

I doubt Nissan are doing it to gain a market in the chipping sales as its too small to worry about, i bet the percentage of tuned navs is in single figures. The only reason Nissan would increase the power is to keep it market leading, the extra BHP may be reasonable but we know nothing of the increase to torque. Turbo is good for a few more psi without straining it too much, so will just have to wait and see. :salute:

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

Me too! I want 300+ bhp, 600+ Nm. But also better brakes. Couldn't care less about fuel consumption (anything is good after the BMW 750 or Murano) and neither the road fund license both are before CT anyway.

Guys/gals, we've had a clean up here, and i can tell you we needed a big broom!

Many posts that were way off topic and a little heated are now gone.

So please, keep on topic, and play nice yeah?

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

I would be happy if they sorted out the MPG, something with the Euro 3 figures would suit me.

The new truck must look like a truck too, i love the current shape, and just hope they don't ruin it, just improve if pos?
I don't want it looking like a hairdressers truck basicly, i want something i can tastefully bling!

Re: NEW FACELIFT NAV/PATHY

I still got two years to go unless the Boss decides to give mine to some one else in the company and give me a new one. They tried that at the beginning of the year but the new truck would have been a Ford Ranger so no deal
